I'd like to know how calling someone a name on the internet impinges upon their legal freedoms, so much so that they need defending. You could just as well defend our legal freedom to call someone a puppy peddler, yet you do not.

I would think what kind of breeding operation a person has that is defending mass breeding would be a fair and open question.

Why do breeders have to show their "qualifications", to comment on a thread about breeding, yet pet owners...do not?

Is it because they do not agree with the masses? Have a different perspective that isn't understood or welcome?

Can someone explain to me why your opinion is valid and requires no qualifications while another person's isn't and does...besides them not agreeing with yours?

Pet owners are not out there making a profit by breeding. If they are, they are breeders. Breeders are the ones that have the ultimate impact on the canines that wind up in the pet owners homes. What they produce will either be a valuable member of the family, or a tragedy in the making. They have a responsibility for what they bring into this world. It is like producing anything that has ultimate impact on our enviorment. As a consumer the pet owner has a right to question their practices, especially if they come here and defend mass breeding. Let them state the facts, and back them up with sound proof that they cause no ill by making them in such numbers. This isn't about the breeder that shows all year round, producing a litter a year, this is about multiple dogs in one ownership producing multiple litters not just to keep up a good line, or better the breed, but for pure profit.

Many pet owners on this board have an opinion of the kind of qualifications they expect in a breeder before they would buy a puppy from that breeder. Annoying of us, I know.

I probably shouldn't butt in with my 2 cents, but here goes.....

I understand why someone would be a respectable breeder and have no problem with that. My problem is with puppymills and byb's. When I adopted Sadie from a foster home through petfinder.com, the lady told me that 800 dogs and cats are put to sleep EVERY HOUR in the US. I can not for the life of me figure out why someone would INTENTIONALLY bring more cats and dogs into this world when there are so many out there that need good homes.

This is not meant toward respectable breeders and not directed toward anyone in particular (I have no idea who are breeders on here and no idea who is a good breeder, etc.), JMO for whatever it's worth.

i think the total is 50 million dogs and cats a year. i would have to double check that to make sure. Staggering isn't it?

Yes, it's very staggering! Sadie is our first dog, but I've taken in 2 cats that were strays, that we've kept. We found a good home for another stray and we were going to keep another one, but she got hit by a car (which is why my cats are inside cats) before we could get her inside.

Everyone in my family are animal lovers and we all try and help those that need it. I can't tell you how many dogs my sister has taken in until she found them good homes. She lives in the country and puppies get dropped a lot, she takes them in. She feeds them, takes them to the vet and finds good homes for them. She doesn't advertise, just word of mouth, but she has to know they're going to good homes or she keeps them. She has one now that I would love to take, but our house just isn't big enough. She's thinking of keeping him, he's such a cutie.

Nope - that was just a side line.

I was asking about hypocrisy.

About breeders on this board who in my eyes should be shunned in the way you shun others.

I know someone on this board who purchased their dog from a mass breeding kennel, and woah - it wasn't even QUESTIONED.

In fact... that kennel was HIGHLY regarded.

THAT is the hypocrisy of which I speak.

Pardon your ASSumptions.

I find it funny, even humorous that you dislike me so much to bring up my dogs and things about me here and there to assist in your blanket "holier than thou" stance on so many issues! Really, it's all marvelous.

You know, I knew you didn't much like that Bella came from a world-renowned breeder, with top quality champions whose lines come form the real thing in Brazil and get shipped to places like South Africa and back to Brazil to do some work, but I never knew why.

I can even see how one would assume such, from the website. There is a HUGE list of Filas, as well as Foundation Filas. So, one that didn't know any better would assume that all of these dogs live on the 35 acres they own. Well, if one were to assume such a thing they would be wrong.

So, I suggest before you jump on your holier than thou band wagon and point fingers at everyone else BUT yourself, that you educate yourself on that of which you speak. Really, it'd be so much better for your health for you to know the truth instead of harboring such ill feelings for me and my dog that was purchased from one of the, if not THE best breeder in the US.

Talk about hypocrisy.

I am not the one knocking mass breeding kennels.

I am not the one saying they are unethical.

I am merely pointing out that what is ok for one, doesn't seem to be ok for the other.

I also never mentioned your name in this thread.

OK?

I really don't know where you get that from to be honest.

Where did I bring up your dogs in this thread?

Oh, Dizzy.

You're as transparent as they come. But that's okay. Everyone sees it. You go on thinking what you want and doing what you do. As long as you feel okay about it all at the end of the day, that's what matters.

Ciao. ;)

Seriously - where is the post I mentioned you?

And how can I be knocking you when I have been supposedly defending a mass breeder?

I am actually confused.

Gee Dizzy even I knew right away you were talking about her and it was between the lines as you meant it to be. Sorry but talk about throwing rocks I have seen you throw several yourself. It would be great if we all could put down the guns and move it along.

Why did you think I was talking about BP?

If I wanted to slur anyone's name, I would have just gone ahead and done it.

But seeing as BP has put herself forward.

Yes - that was the hypocrisy I was talking about.

To the outside eye that kennel is a mass breeding kennel.

BP knows better because she has BEEN there.

Who has been to frenchkissed kennels.

THAT was the point I was making.

HOW that means I don't like BP or her dogs is beyond me.

And denial of the facts earlier would not be hypocritical would they ? And this is not finger pointing is it ? You see we are all guilty. Yes even you.

Denial of which facts?

And as for finger pointing - I didn't mention any names here.

well the way I see this is like the pot calling the kettle black. You just admitted you were talking about her and that is the long and short of it. See the way I see this is there is no one person that can stand in front of a mirror and say they are not guilty of casting stones nuff said.
