My 13-year-old Norwich ends up with an odd head tilt and balance issues every time he shakes himself. It generally lasts for only a few seconds. Is this a common symptom of vestibular disorder? I wonder if it's painful - sometimes looks like he's trying to shake himself without moving his head. ...Steve

Can you give more symptoms your dogs might be showing? Does he drool a lot when this happens? If it is really vestibular disorder, he is in need of immediate veterinary care. Please keep me updated.

No drooling or other symptoms. My understanding is that there's not much vets can do about so-called "old dog vestibular disorder" - just a matter of waiting it out until it resolves itself in time...
