Has anyone else been watching the Piper story the past 2yrs?

WOW this is really scary to me the precidence that this "rescue" is trying to set. They want it so that no matter how a dog ends up in rescue(stolen, got loose or so on) that as soon as a rescue picks it up it automatically becomes sole owner of said dog. Regardless of the proof you could have of ownership. I could see less reputable rescues going out and stealing pure bred and high demand breeds to turn a profit if this precedence was ever set. As a breeder, Service Dog handler and pet owner this is terrifying that any rescue would feel this way:

"COSR/Sanderbeck kept Piper hidden from her owners for over a year and dragged this case through the lower Court and into the Appellate Court in an attempt to stay the Order of Possession. After filing multiple briefs, claims and counterclaims by COSR/Sanderbeck, after incurring costs for the plaintiffs in this case of well over $150,000, COSR/Sanderbeck now say that this case has not been about keeping this dog after all? Attorney Bell’s argument appears to be about setting precedent regarding the ownership of any dog handed into rescue by a shelter so that any right of recovery is immediately forfeited no matter the circumstances. Bell claimed that this case is about protecting ALL rescues from owners who dare to attempt to recover their lost pets because because"

Unless the owners can be proven negligent/abusive, it should be a illegal for a rescue to "claim" ownership of a dog. I hope Piper gets reunited with her family.

there was another thread on here with updates as it progressed. Too lazy to go and look for it. I hope that rescue gets buried and any others with the same thought process can die with them.
