well you asked how you would know how to switch..if your dogs eats those things..you should switch ;)

A bit of supplementation to a good kibble is good. But make sure you don't feet too much muscle meat, it will throw off the nutrient balance (ie the calcium:phosphorus ratio)

I guess you would say that she is thriving, and she sure loves to eat! She hit 20 pounds this morning and is 10 weeks old. It says on the Science Diet kibble bag for the Large Breed puppy food, that a 20 lb dog should be getting 3 cups per day.
We are feeding her at 6am, 10am, about 2 pm and then around 5 or 6pm.
She always seems to want more, but I dont want to overfeed her. We did at first thinking we were not giving her enuf and her poop got a bit runny, so we put her on bottled water(we have well water), and cut out the extra food. And now her poops are well formed, and not stinky.
Here is a picture of her after playtime and she is getting tired, our sunroom has been converted into her favourite play area. She can scoot all her toys and tennis balls all over.

Oh, I guess I cant add a picture on this forum, so I will supply a link to a quick page I put up this morning instead. Its not a great page, need to change my background image.

We live on Cape Cod, thats in SE Massachusetts. If I couldnt get some of the foods you recommend here, I perhaps could order them off the net?

Don't be surprised if your vet doesn't know anything about these foods, and won't recommend them. I've known some very stubborn vets that seem to take offense at any food without poultry by-products and corn gluten meal - or, anything that doesnt' come in a white bag with a blue and red seal... ;)

Here are some places in or newar Cape Cod where you can get good kibble. It's my no means an exhaustive list, but it's enough to get you started! :)

Orijen
There are many places that sell Orijen in MA, but I'm not sure which ones are closest to you. Their store locator is: http://www.acana.cz/orijen/storeLocator/MassachusettsStoreListings.aspx

Taste of the Wild
This is a very new food, so the store locator isn't working yet. For stores, call 1-800-977-8797.

Thank you! We are only 8 miles north of Falmouth, so I will go to the store you listed and try some of this food.
And I think I already have a photobucket account, I have so many of those nice photo things like Flickr and more, but now that I finally learned how to do my own site, I tend to forget about them.
Yes, Lilly sure is a lot of fun.
We are having a problem with the deer ticks here, and she and I both have had some bite into us. My husband deticks both of us constantly, we actually detick the whole family. These ticks carry Lyme disease, thats why we have to be so careful.
My husband had it for a year, and I am on Doxycyline at the moment.
Thats one of the few downsides of living on Cape Cod. I joked with our Lilly's vet, that we humans should be using Frontline too.
Thanks again for all the links, I will pick up some of this food right away.

Weruva

There are plenty of othe rhealthy foods...please don't feed Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, etc...

I feed my dog Evo dry (just a little bit) with Weruva wet food...all natural and he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it!! I found them because my cats eat it also and they flip out for it! Human looking food, I have had total success with it for both. Oh, and my cats also eat a bit of Cal Natural Chicken formula!

Do you know that Weruva is made in Thailand?
