It's been 8 years since we had a puppy. We've been feeding our dogs raw for 10 years, but I can't remember when we transitioned any of them from 2 meals a day (morning and evening) to 1 as they were growing up.

The puppy is 16 weeks old and is getting 32oz of food, 16oz at each meal. She's about 37lbs right now.

I'm thinking that when we transition to 1 meal that I start making the morning meal smaller and increasing the evening meal size until she's only getting the 1 meal.

    Suggestions? Thanks!

I actually continue to do 2 meals forever. I used to do one with adults but splitting that in two seemed to work better for them

I can definitely see that with Danes. Our girl ate 4-5lbs of food a day in her prime. We never split it but I thought about it a lot. I know we fed her 2 meals for a while but it was so long ago I can't remember when we changed up. Honestly it's more convenient for me to feed 1. I work at home now but that's going to change soon and I won't have time in the morning.

OK, that was sorta what I was thinking.

I posted some in the pics forum! Thanks! :)

I actually switched to 2 a day with my lab mix, shepherd mix, and husky mix.

Mine have always backed themselves off of each meal. When they just don't want it each time anymore, I stop offering those meals.

I fed my two twice a day when they were puppies-once in the morning, and once in the evening.

I ended up switching to once a day when they were a little over a year (probably closer to a year and a half).

We moved Nola to once a day about a month ago. She's 6 months now. Once she was able to eat a good chunk with the bones intact is when we made the move. She's getting about 2lbs of food a day now. Mostly chicken quarters, backs, beef heart, beef liver. Pigs feet once in a while. She gets the fish skin when we have fish for dinner.
