THis is Bob. Bob is named Bob guess why. Bob is frightened of the lawn mower, Bob is not frightened of me. Poor Bob don't worry, your safe here.

Bob says thank you nice lady. I will eat your slugs, i will eat your bugs. Maybe i won't eat yoru skinks, but i can't promise about the tree frogs. oh oh...weed eaters. Don't worry Bob. Bob is really scared. Hide Bob Hide, if it makes you feel better Bob goes to the Hosta bed in the afternoon, and then comes back and sleeps under the concrete by the door

Bob was so scared he hid all of him first, then poked his head back out to see if it was really gone. Sleep tight Bob, see you tomorrow.

Lots of lettuce for Everyone. The wrens have moved into the house. I left bits of twine cut up at home, and on my trellis for the other birds since they were working so hard to try to get some off of my framework. Strawberries i have covered, uncovered, a rediculous amount of time so they didn't get too much rain. My son had a strawberry pie for his B day. I know what changes i will make for next year. THe strawberries will go UP and the trench will go down, and cloth will go over like a tight sheet on a bed like I saw an organic strawberry farmer do. When i saw that, I thought THAT will fix all the problems. Right now i lift the clump of berries up and kind of fold them over whatever stem is close to get them off the ground.

LIttle Mexico is coming along nicely. Hilling up the center of my garden plot and slopping down the sides a bit has really helped with drainage during this incredibly rainy May.

do have a volunteer that came from the previous tenant of my plot.

I have planted sugar star phlox, and the caramel cherry phlox, as well as snap dragons and zinnias between the lettuce so as it goes out, they are filling in.

Last evening's visitor all minty and new.

Thanks for stopping by and saying Hello.

THis morning's pick that Hyia took to church with her. Couple handfuls went to the gas station man. he could have had more, but that was what he chose.

I told Hyia when she decides to learn and follow some rules, i will get her canning jars and she could be making these into strawberry jam. She asked me how do you make it, I said UTUBE. SHe said gotcha.

Hey to you

Baylee came with me to the greenhouse to pick out some things, and she was able to choose some favorites. WE had a picnic at the garden and did some exploring. I asked her what she thought that big fluffy thing was. Did it smell good? Did she think it was like snuffaluffagus, and maybe we could put a leash on it and take it home. It is not in my plot but i wish it was. I want to pet it every time i go by. THe lion said hello to his princess and let her have one leaf from each of the treasured red lettuce he guards just for her. She said goodbye and take good care. He rawred he would. She was able to cucumbers she and her brother planted are blooming and so are the flowers they planted to protect them. She found the blueberry bushes which hopefully next week will be ready for her visit. Children are allowed to forage on any berries grown by the master gardeners. Soon will be blackberries. I am putting at least one at home and several for my son this year. Strawberries are still going strong and wee grans eat them as fast as i can bring them over. Baylee wrapped each one of hers in a tiny little lettuce leaf yesterday and popped them in her mouth.

We thought since the lion loved red, he should have red flowers too.

For those that love dew.

What i do while i sit in my garden and try to soak up the D and listen to the birds, and wait for Bob, and the lizards.

work in progress...such very slow progress because i am at this point so afraid of screwing it up. It has to do with what my doctor told me "your stuck between a rock and a hard place but at least you have grandchildren" so that became rooted between a rock and a hard place in my mind, which led to this piece. For all women who struggle and preserver for what they love most. Fingers crossed i don't mess it up, and that it fires ok.

Just waiting for the home front to start blooming. So far, so good despite all the rain.

Aiden was disappointing that his sunflowers had no flower yet. He was pleased tho that his cucumber had baby cumbers.

He took this pic to show his Mommy and Daddy.

ice box pickles for the fist ones while we all figure out this canning business. I have a lot to learn in a short time.

This plant came with my lot. I was upset because someone trying to be nice put mulch around my area. What that did was make sure that when the man came through to till, it would not be done. I didn't know that until it was too late because I hadn't been down to check on it. I was waiting to start, after it was tilled, we had already spread the compost evenly. One red wagon at a time pulled by Zoen. Jory and Hyia. All siblings. This garden is suppose to be all about them, and allowing them to learn from what I know and hopefully build on it if they want to. So I am glad i didn't say anything to the people that did that, or stay annoyed, we just stirred it up real good with every plant or seed we put in. And this happened. It would have been tilled under and i would never have known it was there. So pretty sunrise flower, welcome to Little Mexico. Be fruitful and multiply. I will take the very best care i can of you.

I put in my reptile rocks in hopes they will come, digging out a little channel for escape in case it is needed, and was pleased as punch to see the babies have hatched in the gourd and from the sounds of it, their is a healthy nestful of HUNGRY little worm eaters. It was wonderful to get my morning scolding from the rents, i went in and watered quickly than sat from a distance so they can get use to me. My mockingbird wasn't' around and he was missed. Maybe it will never happen that a mockingbird learns the first bit of LIsten to the Mockingbird but it is worth I think the experiment. If for no other reason than the way he looks at me and follows me from post to post. IF they can meow like a cat.........

The best lion pic i have had so far, i keep trying, it is hard to get the lion to show up at all. I don't know why, but they please me, and it is nice to know they are totally recycled because they came out of the trash from a garage sale up the street.

For our baby, we all do it, it seems so wrong to throw roses on the coffee grounds in the compost.

Bird watching from their favorite post. THe birds know they are leashed and have no worries. I really keep trying to get a pic of my Robin and Jr .He brings that baby right up to me like SEE just isn't he GRAND? and i tell him he is a fine baby. But let me reach for my camera, and their gone.
There would probably be no jr or Robin or Bob or skinks if those cats were allowed out off leash, or the ferals were encouraged to move along. I broke a rib chasing one cat out of here. Slipped in the mud. i am sure he was laughing all the way at me too.

I missed a pic of Bob sunning right beside a baby skink. Bob said he would not eat my skinks. I guess he is true to his word. Bob is AWFULLY FAT and i haven't seen one slug here or at LM

Filling in. Lettuce gone, leaving loads of room for Aiden's random cantalaupes/ He planted them just about everywhere. I left the hill, and a couple random ones. He must have planted the whole package just exactly the right depth. He should be proud, a most successful seed planter he is.
