I bought a minpin 3 months ago, he was 3 months when I got so he is now 6months.
He has been paper trained just in case we don't take him out to do his business on time.

in the past 2 days he has been going crazy.
barking, not eating, and most surprisingly peeing on couches and my brother's backpack (he has recently learned to lift his leg)

Does anyone know why this is happening??

He is alone for 6 hours in the morning since we have to go to school, so I was thinking if he feels ignored and wants to attract attention?

If he hasn't been neutered, that should be done asap. It's his male hormones starting to surge through him. Lifting the leg is a sign of adolescence setting in. That's marking his territory. You need to, in the meantime supervise him literally constantly and march his rear outside the second he looks like he is sniffing around something to mark. This is one particular instance where I will use my stern voice and tell him, "no!" And outside he goes promptly. Be sure you don't get after him for regular sniffing. If he's about to mark (lift his leg)...he'll usually sidle up close to something after sniffing it...getting ready to balance on his three legs. Show him where he can do that outside and praise him for peeing on a tree or something. I know its a hassle to have to watch a dog that closely. But you want to nip this in the bud.

Also, are you doing any obedience training with him? He needs a job and needs to earn some of the resources you provide by doing something for you first...a sit or a down or some other trick. Have him learn to look to you for his resources. You controll them.

I'm not a big fan of paper training. It is still peeing in the house and it can be confusing to a dog to be allowed to go in the house in one instance (on the paper) but not somewhere else. The paper isn't always enough of a distinction. I'd start teaching him to go outside only if it were my dog. Six hours is a long time. Is there anyone who can come mid way through and help you out?

Definately neuter him. He is marking his territory. He is 6 months, that is plenty old enough to be neutered. Many vets are doing pediatric neutering and spaying now as youngas 2 months old so he can be done. I would crate train him so that when you aren't home he has a place to go and won't pee all over the place.
