Hi all! I'm Amber. I recently adopted a sweet 8 month old female pup from a local hound rescue (I'm in upstate NY, but the rescue got her from down south). I had her dna checked after being constantly asked about her and getting tired of saying "a hound mix" and "no, I don't know what TYPE of hound mix". So, she's half pure foxhound and half an even mix of treeing walker coonhound and american coonhound (which a cursory google search indicates are very similar). She's a great dog and has taken to what little training she's had like a champ. I've had dogs all my life, but no hound experience. Mostly terriers, including my last dog who was a fox terrier.
I joined looking for advice and tips on how to keep her entertained at home and how to give her the most fun, fulfilling life possible as a non-hunting hound dog. I'm looking forward to learning all I can here and meeting/ communicating with other hound dog owners!

Thanks! This is our first rescue pup, and I'm so happy with how it's going. I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner!

A new dog is everytime like first, especially if you changed breed. My congratulation!
