Bayleigh is a Yorkshire Terrier X Shih Tzu cross but she doesn't have long hair like either of her breeds. This is about as long as it gets. She goes through stages when the hair is thinner and shorter. Not sure if it's due to weather or what. But anyway, if she was your dog, how would you groom her? I've been thinking that she might look good in a schnauzer-like cut. I just don't know. When she was 8 months old, she was shaved down completely but ever since then she's been all natural. :) I like her with her longish hair but I don't know. I think I just want to experiment.

Honestly if she came through the salon and you gave me creative rights, I'd even her up all over, no clippers involved. Schnauzer clips look strange on tailed dogs., so I wouldn't. Just remember whatever you decide, hair grows. If you hate it, it'll grow back and you never have to clip her that way again.

ETA: I'd round her face too. :)

I keep Bristol in what I call a modified Cocker Clip, her body is short and her legs are left long.

ETA, guess I could add a picture huh?

I groom (term used loosely) them myself, so it itsnt very well done, LOL.

I like that idea. Maybe that's why I was thinking schnauzer. Although, I did look up tailed schnauzers and I don't think they looked that bad. I also looked up tailed yorkies but obviously Bayleigh doesn't have long hair like most so she's not going to look the same groomed like them.

A good old Westie cut would look awesome on her or a nice 4AO on her body and shorten up her face as well too.

Dude. I'd she pink?!? That's awesome!!!
Sorry for the thread jack.

Tailed schnauzers just look weird to me. TOTALLY a personal preference and in no way am I saying not to do it, I just wouldn't if she were my personal dog. :) A westie clip would be adorable... I love doing Westie ears... Omg SO cute!!!

This is what she looked like last time. I told the groomer, do whatever looks nice. I'm not a fan of the short face. The short body is fine though. Whatever I choose to do though, I'm doing it myself. So, she probably won't look fabulous. But I did a pretty good job on my mom's dog so that really built my confidence up. lol

Giving her a little lamb clip would look adorable on her (leaving her legs longer than her body)! I have many yorkie clients who get clipped this way! As for schnauzers and tails I wish I had a pic of the first standard schnauzer with natural ears and a tail to achieve his championship here in Nova Scotia! The boy is stunning and a joy to hand strip!

I think it is going to be hard to do much with her little face as she doesn't seem to carry much coat, if you have some thinning shears just use those around her head until you are satisfied. Either way, she is one cute little pup!

I would probably leave her long but I love the scruff mutt look. That said my foster yorkie mix had atrocious hair to deal with. We never shaved her but it just never looked well kept long.

It may just be the angle, but it doesn't look like the groomer did a very good job with her face. :(
No, her face was uneven and I did some cutting on it after she came home after these pictures were taken. Can't say that I made her look any better though.

Thanks for the compliment. I just put some flea meds on her so it's going to be a little bit before I decide what to do. You're probably right though.

There is nothing cuter than a scruffy mutt. :)
