I choose to begin this as a companion thread to the one started by a poster who has some complaints.
I like the fact that this place is open and free enough that someone who voices their discontent can do so, that in itself shows this to be a good site.

As Newton said 'For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction', it is one of the most famous laws of physics.

And so, I devote THIS thread to those who would like to take a moment and mention why they like this site, and to list its positive qualities.

I'll start:

I like Chazhound first and foremost for the good dog advice, and for the many experienced 'dog people' who give freely of their time to address my questions about my dogs and especially about my new puppy, and give good advice about food, training, and other dog concerns.

But it is more than that. There is friendship and support here: even though I am quite a bit older than many of you, still I feel part of this community and welcomed in conversations.
I think some of your posts are incredibly funny, some are informative, and some, sharing a window into your lives, tug at my heartstrings.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is a community, and an exceptionally nice community, and I like it a lot.

OK, y'all's turn, what do YOU like about Chazhound?

I like the open-mindedness of this forum. Before I get jumped on by certain people for saying that, take a moment and think about it! People here seem very willing to hear another opinion and learn from one another instead of bickering constantly. Opinions differ, and people here tend to accept that and move on without holding grudges. Even if they won't change their opinion, people will still listen instead of closing their eyes and humming so they never hear something they disagree with. It's wonderful :)

Lucille.. I echo all you said. Yes, I've had my hand slapped and was banned for 3 days because Grammy got carried away ! I don't really know whose next in age after me, it doesn't matter. Age doesn't mean wisdom ...only experience. I'm always willing to learn and move on. I love this site for the friends I've met... you are the best !! May Chaz live on with the in put of those who can share the good and the bad. Remember , bad posts may be attacked,,, but that's how we all learn. I really feel badly when posts are for help and are put down when they state their" breed " we are all dog lovers here and passionate towards our prefered breeds. Chaz has done a great job.... Hi fives from Me !!

Grammy I don't know why you say you were banned. YOU weren't banned. Secret Santa was. You couldn't log on for a few days because of some weird cookie reason or something. Nobody would ever ban you!

I am also very pleased with this forum. I have found wonderful advice on this board and my doggies' lives are better for it.

I've also found that I have lots in common with lots of you guys! And you young 'uns out there just make me remember how I used to be! Lots of fun. I love it here.

Well I have joined many other forums looking for a place to read and chat with others, and this has remained the only one that I still am active on....So I guess that tells you something.;)

I love the fact that this forum seems to be leniant on speaking for what you believe in......But usually the real trolls are found out quickly.

I also love the fact that Chaz will post in a thread and let us know a little about why or how a problem was dealt with. It lets members feel like they belong to this community on the web.

LOL... I was getting ready to throw the BANNED thing into Grammy's face, until I read (and remembered) it was because she couldn't figure out the Secret Santa thing!!!! I remember that, and how MISERABLE she was when she couldn't post! So, I guess I can't really do the "Ha ha ha ha haaaa" thing to her :p

I like how everyone can say what they think, within the rules, and not get in trouble with others for having a different oppinion.

I just have to say

I have to say, that this is one of the BEST, MOST INFORMATIVE PET SITES I've ever visited. Gosh, it took me days and days to post because I was too busy reading! SOOOO much info on this site, darn, I'm still reading past threads.

The mods here are great from what I've seen, more than patient, and allow members to say what they believe without allowing unnecessary flaming. Most agree to disagree, people who are wrong are told they are eg. pet store purchases, but how else will they learn the truth?

CUDO's to this site, it's members and mods, it's always an informative, learning, and enjoyable site to come to! THANKS TO CHAZHOUND FORUMS :)

Thats the one thing that I love about Chaz - Its active!! I'm also part of a horse board and we only have limited members so posts go by very slowly.

I love posting stuff and having a response like a minute after I posted. Its fabulous. That way, if you have a question it gets answered quickly so you dont need to sit there and wait until the next day for a reply.

Great thread....positive reinforcment at it's finest. LOL.

Grammy....I suspect I may be the next closest to your age. And if I have managed to keep from being banned, certainly you won't be. (banned that is) LOL. I can be awfully opinionated sometimes, I know. I can't help myself. That's my father's fault. I got his opinionated genes. LOL.

I think that Chazhound is a great forum. It's natural that there will be heated arguments in something where there are lots of people. That's human nature. As long as people don't outright attack eachother, things will keep moving along. When someone is spoken to disrespectfully or treated harshly, they tend to shut down, just like our dogs do....(learning behavior) So in order for everyone to learn and have fun, make friends, common politeness should be striven for even when things start to feel heated or we get frustrated. I probably need to take my own advice sometimes.

Yep, I like being able to discuss topics and not have too many people get ticked off:)

It's a great place to mull over your ideas with others. Everyone on this board is great, and even when we tend to disagree on one topic we come together on another. No hard feelings seem to carry over from one topic to another.

We all come from different parts of the world and we all have different experiences...which is great to share with others.
