agression only when we're not around

thanks so much Thank you guys for the advice. We don't have a fence at home, he's on a long lead when he's out, maybe that is the difference. I think a behaviorist is a good idea (I had never heard of one, this is my first dog). We're thinking about moving abroad next year and the last...

agression only when we're not around

need for class yeah, he gets really excited and jumps up/licks new people. That behavior is more under control at home, but if we're out, it's worse. Also, if he ever gets off his leash, he forgets his name. that's only happened twice, but it was enough to scare me.

agression only when we're not around

I haven't posted in a long time, but I got some great advice the last time, so here goes. For background you can look up my post "the destroyer" from 2005. Corbin is now a much better adjusted and much less destructive dog, in fact now he can barely be bothered to get off the sofa without...

    the destroyer

thanks for the advice to search, that was really helpful. Training classes aren't really an option because of budget. We're grad students working 2 part time jobs each. Plus I'm afraid he would spend the entire class freaking out and trying to lick people. but if they are really that helpful, we...

    the destroyer

thanks again so far, so good, I'm going to try the freezing peanut butter thing. on anoher subject, (should i start a new thread? I don't know I'm new to this): My dog is naturally very high energy and is trained to walk on a leash pretty well in a vaccum. i.e. no other people, dogs...

    the destroyer

Keep the advice coming. We do crate him when we are out of the house, but that can be up to 6-8 hours in a day on busy days (broken up). He is a raw hide fiend and can eat, (completely consume, not a crumb left) and eight inch bone in about 2-3 hours of concentrated chewing. He'll do nylabone...

    the destroyer

the destroyer (advice please) My dog, I believe, might be the forth horse of the apocalypse. He is a 18 month old mixed breed (terrier something, beagle maybe, German shepherd?) 70 lbs and special needs. He will chew up and completely consume anything. Cords of 2 fans, 2 irons, a lamp, a play...
