    Dog Clubs/groups --questions

Thanks, I should have assumed that is the case first. Maybe I should have mentioned I was the Director of Volunteer Services for a large health care facility for many, many years which may have been coloring my thinking just a touch.

    Tips for adding 2nd dog

I have a 3 year old mini-aussie (all of 10 pounds) male, he's anti-social with most other people and other dogs (loves our cats though), despite training classes, agility, and other efforts to socialize. He's just afraid of everything. But he's typical aussie in all other ways. My husband...

    Dog Clubs/groups --questions

I could use some thoughts on this. I have contacted breed-specific dog clubs, in hopes of joining, as well as breed- and non-breed specific rescue groups in hopes of volunteering in some form. There were 6 groups I contacted via their websites for information and/or to volunteer, beginning back...

    Rainy days and puppies....aaargh!!!

:rofl1: The sun is shining, and Ozzie and Woody are playing like good buds, again. Yesterday was awful, though. Later in the day, he grabbed the cat by his tail and dragged him across the floor until I caught up. I kept taking both dogs out for short walks, but they wanted back in. Later, they...

    Rainy days and puppies....aaargh!!!

Lucky, lucky, you! It still isn't over. He grabbed my cat--who he usually loves--by the tail and pulled him across the room (damned hardwood floors). Poor kitty is ok, though. Not happy, but ok. The pup did nap for awhile, but it was a short-lived reprieve, I'm afraid. He's wilding again now...

    Rainy days and puppies....aaargh!!!

Yesterday, I wrote an email to my husband (on business trip in Brazil for a few weeks--he missed the neutering drama, entirely) all about how good HIS puppy was being, going to the door nicely to go outside, playing nicely with Woody, etc, etc. Yesterday was a beautiful fall day. Today it's...

Bad breeder? what can I do?

Thank you very much. We'll do that. I can't get my head to understand how someone could breed puppies and not care about them or for them.

    Fun, "educational' puppy toys?

That bumble ball video is great, thanks!!:rofl1: I'll have to try one. We've tried the wubbas, got him a BIG one, and he had the top ripped off in about 5 minutes. I was very disappointed, the other dog has had one since he was a puppy (3 years). We do the kong and peanut butter, too. He...

Bad breeder? what can I do?

Thanks. I just worry sometimes that she could have a bunch of puppies in trouble. Now that you mention BYB, it makes a little more sense to me. She sure wasn't putting any money into vet care. She didn't give/have a shot record for the puppy, so our vet took care of everything for him. Sure hope...

Bad breeder? what can I do?

Bad breeder? What should I do? We got Ozzie because a friend of ours, owner of a small pet supply shop in another state, had a breeder in her shop complaining that her puppies weren't selling because of the 'economy.' Our friend knew my husband always wanted a samoyed, and the breeder made her...

    toss and tug toy?

We've had too many incidents of the puppy throwing toys around if he wins a tug with us or the other dog. We've had those tennis ball tugs bang into the tv and other stuff, so they're now relegated to outdoor play, only! So, they have Fat Cat Toys...rings, tug-ables, and ones that look like...

    Fun, "educational' puppy toys?

I've been buying toys that don't last an hour for Ozzie (6 months old), and was looking for some that might hold up and be fun. I happened on some toys that are made to 'stimulate' the dog brain and keep them busy. Some of them blew me away, over $50, not a chance with Mr. Destructo, so went...

    Puppy's first bath

Too cute! Caleb looks like he really enjoyed it, wish Ozzie did. Ozzie's first bath--in the kitchen sink, he was so little--was also the last I managed to give him. He hates water, so the groomer, bless her, gets the pleasure!

    Puppy's first bath

Ozzie's first bath, age 9 weeks. I don't think he liked it:D Any other bath pictures?

    Talking dogs?

My husband started it, when he noticed Ozz like barking at motorcycles. He said "biker" and Ozz would stick his head out a partly opened window in the car and bark. Then Ozz got to imitating the word, and says his version of biker, kind of like 'ike-ooo.' So, my husband started him on trucks...

    Talking dogs?

Sorry! When Ozzie says trucker it sounds pretty profane--kind of like 'ruck-oooooo.' And he barks it at the Trucks. My husband thought it would be cute, but.....

    Talking dogs?

Ozzie picked up saying "I love you" out of the blue. I said it to him several times when he was just 8 or 9 weeks old, and he started saying it almost immediately. It's cute with the samoyed a-rroo. Kind of like "I ruve a-rooooo." Anyway, he has picked up "biker," he likes to bark at motorcycles...

Your Dogs Name: Why You Chose The Dog Name You Did

Oh, us and names! Woody P Coltrane just came out of my husband's mouth, and it stuck for our mini-aussie Ozz (The Blizzard of Ozz) my husband named, again. I thought it was too precious, but decided I could refer to him as "the Prince of Darkness," and since Ozzy Osbourne has an album of that...

How in tune are your dogs to your emotions?

We're just getting over the neutering of Ozzie, 6 month old samoyed, and I decided to come down with the flu. I was feeling really lousy yesterday, and laid down on the love seat to try to catch a little nap. Within a minute of laying down, the mini-aussie, Woody had jumped up and was taking his...

    Trouble after neutering

Thanks! He's still crying a little, and trying to get at the area a lot, but the comfy e-collar seems to be working just fine. I think the worst is over. Thanks for all the help!
