Which flea/tick meds best for Connecticut?

I know I've heard that either Frontline or Advantix works better in Connecticut but I can't remember which. Also are there any other advantages to one or the other that I should take into consideration? When do people start appling to their dogs? Should I be doing it year round or only during...

Looking for a more secure harness

My dog's harness fits him well (Ezy Dog) but the clasps are made of plastic. He is getting better but still reacts to other dogs and people by lunging. I'd like to replace his harness with something I feel more secure about. Everything I see in stores also has those plastic clasps. Any brands I...

Should I switch or mix foods?

Stools aren't larger. He's going more often. His coat is nice and shiney but I do give him a couple of cooked eggs a week. His eyes do seem to have a discharge of some kind that is visible at the inside corners. I just wipe it off. Could that be an indication of an allergy or is it normal in...

Should I switch or mix foods?

I have been feeding my dog, (12lb. chi mix) Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit since July. He's finished a 15lb bag and I started a new 15lb bag last week. I've noticed that he seems to have started pooping more recently. When he started on Solid Gold he was down to 2 bowel movements a day. I had...

    Leash Hardware malfunction?

Thanks so much for all the replies and suggestions. I've been thinking about getting an Ella's lead for a while now, Chewbecca, didn't notice before that it is your company. I'm sure I'll be doing that soon. Everyone's responses have made me realize that I must not have fastened the clasp...

    Leash Hardware malfunction?

I was taking my dog out when I arrived home from work the other night around 10:30. We had been walking around the backyard for a few minutes and the leash was securely attached to his harness. A neighbor came out of his house and Tobey pulled in that direction to investigate. He's a 12 pound...

Is a martingale ok for a small dog?

I agree about cotton webbing. I had one that I loved but one day when my brother was taking care of him he chewed right through it. I'm more confident of the nylon lead I'm using now as far as durablity goes but I do feel it burns more when he's being difficult.

Is a martingale ok for a small dog?

He has a red Puppia but the head opening is a bit big on the medium size I got because the small opening was too snug. I'm in the process of trying to fix it to fit so that he can't fit his jaw under it to chew it to bits. I have a large, nasty scar on my calf from the retractable leash i...

Is a martingale ok for a small dog?

My dog is a 12 pound chi mix. He appeared on my front porch during a rain storm back in April with a frayed nylon collar on. It was obvious he had been stuck on something and had to struggle pretty hard to break free. He went to the local shelter and after they advertised him as missing I...
