    Calling all Agility Addicts!!

We still have some teeter and weave pole work to do and Speed has gone from crazy dog to sometimes looking reluctant and running slowly. I think he's confused about his job at times and I need to work on handling. When he seems reluctant, I start having 2nd thoughts about agility but he's...

    Dog Agility Camp

The week of September 3rd, Speed and I went to Bud Houston's Dog Agility Camp! http://www.dogagility.org/ It was a great experience and great fun. Bud is entertaining, thorough and persistant. For me, itt was a spontaneous decision to attend. When I inquired about how much experience I...

    Why i LOVE agility

I'm enjoying this thread as well. When I adopted Speed I had no idea I was going to fall so hard for agility. I have wondered if I would have still adopted him if I had known more about agility. He has a lot of great qualities and is learning so fast that I have no regrets and no preconceived...

    practice tunnel recommendations

I'm looking at practice tunnels. On this site, www.ntiglobal.com, they list 4-inch and 6-inch spacing of the rings. I assume the 4-in spacing makes the tunnel more durable. Does the spacing makes a difference to the dog on their feet? Any advice/recommendations for a 10-ft practice...

    Rear-end Awareness - need help

Speed & I finished beginner agility last week and will begin intermediate class next week. While on 'break', I'm working with Speed on rear-end awareness. I started with a phone book. He caught on in 2-3 days to consistently placing both front feet on the phone book. I started shuffling my...

    How do you balancing treats/food?

Thanks to everyone for your input. I think it will be wise for me to change how I feed him on days we train, especialy since we're in the early stages of training and using food rewards. I will check out the forums on dog food too. Lois

    How do you balancing treats/food?

How do you balance treats/food? Good Morning, Ever since I adopted my dog I have wondered how to balance food/treats/extra food after training classes or long hikes. We hike 4 miles/day on week days, up to 8 miles on weekends. We take a 1-hr agility class once per week. He's a...

How much time do you practice?

Thank you to all! I want to make sure I don't start off with the wrong routine. We've been working in targeting at home, have a 1-hr class. I need to read about flat training. We mainly have fun hiking and mtn biking in cooler weather. We only get to practice about 10-15 minutes a few...
