I'd be pretty shocked if Eve bit a stranger. First one that came to mind.

Interesting thread.

Quite frankly, I think it's a shock when any dog bites for the first time and I couldn't single out a dog from the forum that I think is the least likely to bite, because I really don't know any of their temperaments or their bite threshold.

Out of my own dogs, I think Eve is the least likely to bite a person. I think she'd only resort to violence towards people if she felt she had to fight for her life. I think I'd be least surprised if Dakota bit someone, because he has bitten before when threatened.

But I have to wonder, are you talking about a supposedly "unprovoked" bite on a stranger who was minding their own business? Or a defensive bite? Just curious, because I'd personally be shocked as hell if any one of my dogs showed aggression to a benign stranger.

Showpug's Alice :p

For mine, not sure. Boris still has some resource guarding issues and Tips is shy if Boris is not around, so you never know. I would say both would really need to be provoked to bite though.

I think it would shock me to hear ANY chaz dog bit a stranger unprovoked........if that is the way you meant it.

I say this because I think most Chazzers seem responsible with their dogs and how they are raised and kept.........so it would AMAZE me to hear it happened.

What did I mean...Not sure; I was just walking the dogs and some guy was petting Sal and asked if he "bites". I chuckled and replied, "only Cheeseburgers." I was think to myself...what would it take for one of my dogs to bite a human.

I think if a stranger cornered Athena and he was hurting her she would defend herself, but Sal is such a goof I just don't see him ever biting but I guess given right situation any thing is possible.

After I thought about it, I thought I would post the question to the group.

Well I'd want someone ASK to pet my dogs FIRST! And I would most likely SHOW them how to correctly pet my dogs, not won't listen say BYE BYE!

Well, good point. But its best if you can be relatively confident that even if someone runs up and pounds your dog on the head, they still won't bite. We don't all have that luxury, but there are definately some dogs who would just wag their tails and some that would take your arm off.

That said, I don't think we have many unprovoked biters on Chaz. Biters in the situation above probably. Dogs that would bite if actually threatened, certainly. Which ones . . . I'm not sure. I'm not even totally sure what Sarama would do. I'm fairly sure with an overfriendly stranger she'd retreat and not bite unless pursued . . . unless perhaps they actually startled her by coming out of no where. If actually attacked . . . by a human, not sure . .. by another dog, I'm pretty confident she'd fight back. If I was threatened . . . well, she had certainly done things to make me think she'd protect me from another animal, and the one time she thought we had an intruder in the house she sounded very fierce . .. but woudl she bite? I don't know.

She's also only 10 months old . . . so who knows what she may be like a four? Bomb-proof I would hope, but willing to protect me, or herself, from an authentic threat . . . or at least look and sound like she would!

I don't think any of my dogs would bite, even if provoked. They would probably run away instead of attack back. Because they're small and fluffy, they have to deal with strangers just come up to pet them without asking, I think they get used to that already.

so, I would be shocked if any of my dogs would bite anyone.

I was @ the car shop today. I took my foster with me for socialization. One guy who he clearly didn't like walked up to him & asked if he bit. I told him that I didn't know. ANY dog can bite.

Smkie's Mary, she just seems too sweet :)

I can honestly say I would not be suprised if Frodo bit somebody. He has pretty bad fear aggression and if cornered he would bite, though I do not ever expect him to be put in that position.

I think this is a thread that could go downhill quickly, so I refuse to single out other peoples dogs... however as far as my own go... I would be most surprised if Bella bit someone, even when she got reprimanded as a puppy she didnt seem to understand that she was in trouble, she is soo happy all the time and has a great personality... I would not be shocked if Elle bit someone, sad but true... she does have some food aggression which makes me realize she is capable... I try to minimize it as much as possible and never put her in a position to hurt anyone... I would never feed her in public or let a stranger give her food... and Armani's personality hasnt developed quite enough yet but I think he is more like Bella except that he seems to be annoyed by strange people.

My dog Petie would absolutely bite someone if provoked. He is a guardy (in general) little thing and can be very judgemental of strangers.
Last year at the Vet/Chiropractors I wasn't paying attention to him, (paying the chiro bill) and one of the staff (she was new) bent over him, getting her face right in his, he gave her a bunting shot to the face BUT didn't bite. But certainly gave her a warning. To this day he does not like her, he is a fav in that office with the Vet and the Staff and he loves going there...........he loves his vet with the magic fingers lol.

Grace's Eve and Jennifer's Lizzie are the first two dogs that came to mind for some reason, but I'd be surprised at most of the Chaz dogs biting somebody, provoked or not.

Out of my own dogs, Dance I don't think ever would. She's way too sweet and gentle, and just takes everything in stride whether she likes something or not. I'd be extremely surprised if she ever bit someone. Winston might if he was really provoked, but I think the most he'd do was corner somebody and use a bite as the very last resort.

Unfortunately Morgan would bite, no doubt. She's just not a very stable temperamented dog in general and never has been. I have to be very careful with her out in public or around some company in the house. She acts as if we left her in a box all of her puppy hood and never did anything with her, when in reality, she went absolutely everywhere with us and has been to tons of training courses and such.

Interesting concept! I didn't think of that, BUT it goes both ways, if you won't play nice and be gentle with my child, you turn and take the baby & walk off. Fair square etc

Misty is MOSTLY very trustworthy I think b/c she was extermely social as a pup we got her when she was 6wks old TOO YOUNG to be away from mother, *she was from BYB breeder* anyways she is also VERY passive to strangers I trust her around anybody etc Yet still protect her as well

BUT with Lacey *talking as if she was alive* she was very reserve towards strangers, she was not socialize when she was young, we got her at 6 months old, plus she was from a abusive owner

I have never met a Chaz dog... so I can't speak for anyone elses dogs. D:

Out of my two, I would be VERY surprised if Fozzie bit anyone. I have never seen him in any situation where he seemed defensive. He won't even growl at a puppy flopping all over him. He has never shown any aggression toward strangers, even creepy strangers.

Gonzo... it's hard to say. He has never bitten anyone. Even when being attacked by a crazy neighbor with a shovel, he didn't. I would have to say I'd be LESS shocked if Gonzo bit some one, but nonetheless shocked. If Gonzo did anything in defense were he threatened by a person, I'm sure he would be very vocal about it and maybe nip at them. But his bite inhibition is perfect.
