I am attempting this pattern: http://www.cocoabeachyarn.com/patterns/classicwatchcap.pdf

so if you hear some sort of horridly tortured scream, it's probably me. Yes, I know it's supposed to be simple, but I'm still pretty n00b when it comes to knitting, never mind trying to read patterns. Also, I'm using straight needles instead of circular.

I can now officially knit and purl. I have yet put those new skills to use in making anything though. I'm attempting a wrist warmer today, wish me luck!

WOO. :D

My main advice is don't get too discouraged! Allow yourself a lot of screw-ups at first - your stitches will be crooked, you'll drop stitches and not realize until three rows later, you'll knit too tight and/or too loose and you may want to throw it out the window (I sure did when I was learning). Keep practising! :)

YES to all those... My biggest issue right now is adding stitches.. I don't even understand how that is possible, LOL. So I'm counting every single row at this point. I spent my entire shift yesterday knitting, taking it apart and redoing it. This wrist warmer has been redone twice already. LOL

Taq: nope! At least, not intentionally. :p

Sara, you should see how many time I've ripped out this hat already. It's ridiculous. This is one of the few areas in life where I go all OCD, which I guess is the point.

Okay, you should DEFINITELY block it first. It will make your life about a hundred million times easier. I tried to seam one of my first projects without blocking and eventually got mad and just whip stitched. It looked amazing lol. Also, this site has awesome tutorials: Seaming.

I want to see pictures when you get it done. :D

In theory, adding stitches is easy, but it helps to know the construction of the stitches - which comes with a LOT of practice.

I do "alot" of different crafty things, espec now when it's cold and dark early:)

I do alot of knitting/crocheting, make lots of scarves and usually either gift them out or donate them to homeless shelters that kind of thing..

Also do jewelry Here's a pic of some 'dog magnetic necklaces I made", I make ALOT of magnetic bracelets & necklaces, these I sell when I'm vendoring at shows/market and alot of my friends on the net have ordered them

I also make doggie mats and cat nip mats,,I sell alot of these again at dog shows/farmer market..Here's a pic of some of the dog mats I'm working on now

I 'wish" i could knit more complicated things, but I just can't get the gist of alot of the stitches for something like "fingerless gloves",,,I've been self taught on just about everything:)

I know I'm pulling a "Holy Old Thread, Batman!" move here, but I've got a bunch of new/newish stuff I just wanted to share.

Crochet toys...

Baby blankets...

You are REALLY good!
Thanks. After my last posts in here all those months (years, lol) ago, I decided I wanted to put forth some effort into adapting/creating patterns. In order, the three baby blankets are more and more deviated from a written pattern, and I was really proud.

I hope it didn't come across as a brag post or anything. I just really wanted to share some work with other yarn people. :)

Those are so ridiculously good (and cute!!) that you are forgiven reviving and old thread :rofl1:

Seriously, though! I love them. The crochet toys are adorable. I know someone who would LOVE that piano key afghan. The very last one gave m a random idea for a pacman one (that I will never get around to doing btw lol)
Great work! :)

Maxfox those are great! I really love the hippo and the piano blanket.

I'm totally going to brag about this hat I finished yesterday for a friend - it's the love child of two patterns and I'm super happy with it.

I may need to know that pattern(s). My brother may need this project made for him. LOL

Looks awesome!

And thank you. The piano blanket was my first real "break with tradition" in terms of patterns. It's basically a scarf with a blanket attached, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think I may make a few more of them, since it was actually reasonably simple and the result is just so nice. :)
