They continue to do Sandor Clegane all wrong, they did something terrible with Jaime, Cersei should have been more upset and the Red Viper sex scenes are super cheesy.

But overall I am enjoying it.

Yeah ugh, definitely wanting to know how it's all going to play out. I totally agree that Laurel's part felt a bit forced, out of place for sure. I think you're right, I was probably also liking her better because she wasn't around as much! Also now she's in the know, I feel like it's inevitable that her and Oliver will get closer/get together and blaaah, I'm so not keen on that.

I've been thinking of trying out Vikings, I've heard a few good things about it, so might give it a shot.
I reaally don't want to see Laurel and Oliver together. I like him with Sarah just fine (and really like Sarah's character, so nothing had better happen to her...). But it seems like Laurel's meant to be the main romantic interest/female lead in the show. Bleh.

And you should absolutely give Vikings a shot! I've only finished Season 1 but it's very, very well made and there's all sorts of badassery involved. I can't say I'm hooked on it like I am with other shows (I heard Season 2 was even better?) but I do really enjoy it.

Agreed completely. I'm still pissed about the Jaime thing. REALLY? I just... ugh.
That sept scene was just... why? I think the writers are insistent that we hate Jaime (between him killing his cousin to escape and now this). Really unhappy with that, because I was really liking who he is in the books. I DO still like him in the TV show, but that sept scene was not okay. After reading a few comments from the writers/actors I tried to explain to my roommate (not a book reader) that "neither of them saw it as that" but still, that doesn't take away from what it was.

lol and the constant reminders of Oberyn Martell's bisexuality. We get it, he likes the dudes, too. I am okay with shirtless and flirty Pedro Pascal, though. No complaints about the acting and overall portrayal, I think he and Ellaria's actress both do a great job as their characters.

OH. And new Daario? Do not like. Old Daario looked and acted like a sleaze but I honestly felt that was more true to the books. New Daario looks like a dork and I really don't see him as alluring or charming or smug as all get out.

Holy crow!! This is crazy. I just started watching the latest episode of Orphan Black (S02E03) and I'm 15 minutes in when a new character who looks VERY familiar shows up. The actor's Michiel Huisman, aka New Daario :rofl1: Great timing!

GAME OF THRONES / A STORM OF SWORDS SPOILERS BELOW

Agreed completely. I'm still pissed about the Jaime thing. REALLY? I just... ugh.
I find it especially concerning that the director intended it to be ambiguous. Because she briefly kissed him back at one point.

It was legit iffy in the books. The uncomfortable part was him proceeding with kissing and undressing her when he said she didn't want to do it there. This was this was countered by her turning totally enthusiastic prior to the actual intercourse and literally guiding him in. There is also precedent in the books for him being pushy and "winning her over," plus we have her POV which gives no indication that she feels wronged by him (in contrast to sex with Robert). This all makes her refusal read to me more like a kink then him abusing her. She's crazy enough I think it's a reasonable guess that she would have called him impotent or something had he respected her every "no." Whatever.

In the books it was at worst a lesser sexual assault, but possibly a relationship kink. In the show he thrusts away while she says "it's not right" and he declares "I don't care."

For me anyways, one of the redeeming features of Jaime is that he was anti-rape in a world where is seems the norm. For me, anyways, when I read a male character I always wonder what he's done to women after battle. Then we learn Jaime's only been with one woman. He subjects himself to agony to save Brienne from rape, tries his best to advise her on handling the situation so she comes out alive... at one point in AFFC he has a rapist decapitated and gives the head to the victim. Now he does this to Cersei...

I mean, I successfully pretend it didn't happen so I still enjoy show Jaime, but why did they do it like that when the source material showed them how to do it well?

So there was that. Then we have Sandor Clegane, who in the books steals when he needs to, pays when he can, works for money when he gets the chance. They pass people in their travels and he just tells Arya to keep her distance. He doesn't attack and rob them. When he's at the village he works until they kick him out. He tries to convince the village leader to let them stay, but when he's unsuccessful he just asks for his money and leaves. When he buys drinks in the inn, he very pointedly pays the innkeep.

In the show, last season he was going to murder the poor farmer whose cart he stole to get Arya to the wedding and now he beat and robbed this guy who hosted them for the night. I mean, his character is quite different in the show but I was still annoyed, especially as many people seem to conflate the book and show versions.

(Yes, I am crazy and have too much time on my hands... )

Uhm yeah. In the books he had a much more flamboyant cocky personality. Like you say the old guy got the sleaze down pat. The new guy is just a dude that does cool things with raunchy knives. I can't see him boasting about all the women he's slept with, how he's the ultimate bamf and would kill all of Dany's suitors to be with her, etc.

No complaints about the acting and overall portrayal, I think he and Ellaria's actress both do a great job as their characters.
Haha totally, he gets those wild eyes that that just scream "I'm going to love ****ing up your joint." And yes he's easy on the eyes : D

Ugh god, yes yes yes to all of the above.

I am pretending the Jaime thing just didn't happen at all. It was not ambiguous, I don't know how they can say it was. It was just stupid and so out of character for someone who is so vehemently against rape. I mean.... yeah Jaime is no saint for sure- he pushed Bran out the window and obviously there's the whole incest thing... but he strikes me as a guy with his own moral code and that was just... no.

And the arguing 'it was in the books'... no... not like that. Still icky and wrong and wildly inappropriate but not like that.

More spoilers ahead! For the TV show and the book counterpart.

Xandra, your analysis and thoughts were spot on. Agree 100%.

And yeah, as for the book sept scene vs. the TV sept scene, while the book scene started out assault-y, the grossest part about it was probably the whole "Cersei having sex next to her dead son born of incest while on her period" thing. Ew.

In the show... I've read what the writers say they were going for, and the actor's thoughts on the scene. I've explained to my roommate that neither Jaime nor Cersei thought of it as rape, but of course, it still WAS rape. I don't like how that scene was written or portrayed and I don't think it was even a fraction as ambiguous as the writers/actors say it was. I don't really find it ambiguous at all.

I do find it concerning that the writers/actors think so, but I guess it's also different from say, a viewer seeing it as ambiguous. Some things translate differently when it goes from paper to screen, especially because it can also depend on the actors' interpretations and portrayals of the mindset/personality of the characters. And I guess when the writers and actors have already decided it was meant to be one way, they continue to think that even after the scene is finalized?

Only explanation I can think of, because otherwise I'd have some pretty serious questions about what they think is and isn't rape.

Oh geez, and another familiar face, this time in Vikings.

Cato (Alexander Ludwig) from The Hunger Games is a main character in Vikings?? Hells yes! Loved his character as a kid in season 1, and am excited for his story line this season.

Also, Season 2 is definitely better, or at least, more interesting. I'm only on episode 3 and I'm seriously hooked.

I love mythbusters also , and Tanked and Top Gear and Fast N Loud .
Married to Medicine , And strangely I will watch In The Heat of The Night everytime i see it on.

I am anxiously awaiting the trial (even though watching Oberyan bite it will make me cry), and the killing of Tywin on the shitter. And the choking of Shea , I can not wait to find out where whores go.
GoT has me obsessed . I reread and rewatch them all the time.

I am disturbed Jamie came back to quick , and the whole john going back over the wall.

I geek out over WAY too many shows. But I'm also really bad about catching up on them. My DVR is full cause I'm so far behind on a lot of them lol.

Some of my current (on now) favourites are:

~Star-Crossed (I admit.. I'm into a lot of teenage drama shows. It's ridiculous for my age, but oh well lol)
~The 100
~Vampire Diaries
~The Originals
~Supernatural (my most favourite show ever)
~CSI (which is also an old favourite. Don't think it will ever be cancelled lol)
~Chicago Fire & P.D
~Grey's Anatomy
~Orphan Black
~The Tomorrow People
~Once Upon a Time
~Revenge
~Devious Maids
~Glee (I don't like to admit that one though lol)
~Big Brother Canada, The Voice, Bates Motel, Believe... I could go on I think lol. I also really like shows like Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters. I really love TV, even though I hardly ever have the time to watch things when they are actually on. I usually do a binge day where I try to catch up on everything lol.

Some others that I watch but are on Hiatus or in between seasons:

~American Horror Story, Bitten, Haven, Helix, Orange is the new Black, Sleepy Hollow, Big Brother US, The Walking Dead, True Blood (sad this summer is last season), Under the Dome and Witches of East End.

Wow, now that I see it all typed out, it's a lot. I have issues lol.

I thought this week's GoT was pretty weak.
agreed. Usually I rewatch the best scenes on youtube but really, what was there to rewatch from this last week? I guess I liked how Cersei was trying to influence the judges (the show being subtle, for once), and those convos were pretty good. But overall, forgettable.
