Are there *any* toys out there that are fun, and yet durable enough to leave on the floor for non-interactive play time?

Seriously. Abrams can have NOTHING. He has a nylabone, a kong squeeze ball, and a kong. That's it. Every other toy I have tried to give him he is able to kill/eat/destroy within ten minutes. I purchased him his THIRD Kong wubba, and after about five minutes he had already chewed through the seam and was eating the fabric. So it has become a toy that only comes out when we are actually actively playing fetch or tug and I am 100% supervising.

Unfortunately, most of Abrams play time is not 100% interactive. I don't typically just sit and play with him as my 100% focus. More often than not I'll throw a toy while intermittently asking for sits/downs/what have you while I'm watching TV or playing a video game, and he also LOVES to play with toys by himself. He'll throw them around and play fetch with himself, bat them around with his paws to chase, and happily sit and chew for hours.

However, besides the kong and nylabone...they are all dying. Even tennis ball type-toys are a no-go, because he rips off the green fuzz and EATS IT. I wouldn't have as much of an issue if he actually didn't INGEST things. No-stuffing plush toys? He'll shred them and EAT THEM.

I just bought him one of those knotted rope balls (it was like, $2) and he's already in the process of killing it. I has literally been 4 minutes. I just got up and took it away from him because I was afraid he'd eat the bits of rope he had gnawed off of it.

So. A toy(s) that are able to be thrown/tugged on, but also make good extremely good, durable chews? Playing fetch with his nylabone isn't the most fun thing in the world...

Watson really likes his jolly ball and hasn't been able to make much of a dent in the handle (despite his best efforts).

He really prefers soft toys, but he can destroy every single one in under 15 minutes (he also likes to eat the stuff he rips off). The jolly ball is the only harder/tougher toy that he really likes to play with alone since it bounces around, and has a handle (he loves things with handles). Bonus that he can't get it stuck under various pieces of furniture and bark at me to get it out.

Merlin is the same way when it comes to destruction and right now, other than his kong, the only toys he has out 24/7 are his westpaw toys. These are so great, and they will replace it if they get through it FOH FREE
specifically this one is the one I have and it's cool to throw: http://www.amazon.com/West-Paw-Design-Guaranteed-Granny/dp/B004A7X22W/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1386709428&sr=8-6&keywords=durable+dog+toys

and then a jolly ball (they give those things to horses, they are TOUGH!), and this pig (http://www.amazon.com/Tuffys-Polly-Pig-Dog-Toy/dp/B000XXXF38 )

The pig for some reason is a big favorite.. it's big, and hard to carry.. yet somehow, he really likes it and it has taken a BEATING

At a dog show I saw a Tuffy's sheep that I wanted to get so bad, but I wasn't sure how it would hold up. Watson has a similar toy that's a duck (though not as well made or durable) and he ripped the edging stuff off in a day. Now you've convinced me to get a Tuffy since he loves stuffed toys so much.

I love the West Paw ones, but they're not the type of thing he'll play with on his own. They have nice designs though.

Feist has the tuffy pig and sheep and she really hasn't been able to do much damage. The sheep is her favorite toy and has held up to awful beatings since Feist got here lol. I've had success with cuz balls although I know the feet are tasty foods to some dogs.

Awesome! Keep the suggestions coming!

Fran, love that they'll replace the toys if they get destroyed! That is one of my biggest fears....that I'll spend $15+ on a toy and then he'll just kill it.

For those of you with Tuffies: do they stand up to chewing? Specifically, if he were to lay down and just start gnawing on it? I never thought a dog could kill a wubba until I met Abrams...he just chews at the seam (because it's fun) and then once he has a hole, he starts shredding it.

Abrams is getting a jolly romper, or whatever, for Christmas. The giant ball with tbe rope through it. I figure the rope won't last long, but he will love the ball.

Feist has made a hole in her sheep's chest, but it's small. She has been gnawing and chewing on that poor toy like crazy, especially lately.

Wesley had a smaller one, a tuffy lizard. Wesley is a professional toy gutter and that one lasted a decent amount of time. Definitely worth the price. They have a durability scale for their toys too.

Oh, and on a similar note, any good puzzle/food toys?

I was thinking about an everlasting treat ball, but wasn't sure how long it would take him to chew down one of the treats.

Watson chewed each of the hangy tentacle things off one by one. Just gnawed straight through in about 5 min per tentacle. I'm worried he'll go right through a tuffy.

ETA: For treat balls, I looove the IQ Ball. I can make it really difficult and it's infinitely adjustable (I hate toys that are automatically easy if you use kibble - I don't want to put special treats in it) and since it's perfectly round it's pretty much impossible to destroy. It's loud though when it gets whacked around into walls and furniture.

I have a couple Starmark toys for my two, the Everlasting Treat Ball, the Bento Ball, and the green Fun Ball that doesn't take the treat 'disc'. Ezra could work on a treat disc for a while and not do much damage, Alligator Face, on the other hand, has figured out how to pop out the treat discs easily. I put them in backwards for her and it takes her much longer. The actual toys themselves have held up VERY well. They're nice because they don't rip, even when they're damaged. My ex's lab/chow mix did manage to chew the 'lip' off one side of the ETB, but that took him a long while. They've all enjoyed playing with them even without the treat discs, and the Bento and ETB are nice because you can use the discs and little dispense type treats together. Chewy.com has some decent prices on the treat discs (compared to $8+ at pet stores!).

I own a dog who will chew bricks if I don't stop him from it. BRICKS.

That said, I've tried almost everything and the few things that are worth the money (read: last more than 5 minutes) are the Souper / Galileo Nylabones, the black Kong ball (the solid one with no hole in it, any hole is a starting point for destruction), his West Paw Hurley, and somehow, his Planet Dog Orbees. I haven't figured out how he hasn't shredded those yet - they just seem to absorb the punctures and bounce back.

His Tuff toys are all destroyed, and at their cost, I'm just not going to get any more. They do last longer than any other stuffed toy though, I'll give them that.

His jolly balls are all floppy pieces of shredded material (he gets a start on the handle and then it's game on from there), he even tore up an Egg.

The last Wubba I bought him lasted less than 5 minutes before he had ripped the fabric off the top, and it was an XXLarge. That was $20 down the drain. I thought maybe since it was SO big it would last a bit, but I was mistaken.

I do still get him Cuz's because he adores them, and he's never been prone to eating pieces he chews off. Plus I can get them fairly cheap so I let him indulge.

Lacrosse balls, Kong balls, Planet dog diamond plate balls, Gough nuts, West Paw stuff.

Also I prefer kong wobblers for food toys, they're durable imo, also bob-a-lots and buster cubes.

As far as interactive toys go, I really like the Planet Dog Snoop - Missy chews through Kongs eventually but hasn't managed to make a dent in the Snoop.

The Aussie Naturals leather toys work really well for my guys. I cautiously recommend them, because my guys are destructive but not capable of destroying a kong or anything...but in any case, they hold up to the boxer and dobe chewing and playing tug.

My nephews pitbull killed the tuffy I got him in about three hours by working on one spot, but it was the longest lasting toy for them and he stil has it. Gage chewed the seam that they see sticking out off and got it open in about half an hour. Gage's longest lasting (and favorite) toy was his hugglehound green octopus, 4 years it's missing one leg, even his body squeaker still works, none of the leg ones though lol.

Cuz toys if they haven't been mentioned are always a huge hit as well.

Tuffies were my go-to but Riff can still get them open, and it was stuffing from a Tuffy that caused his blockage. Not blaming the toys, and they hold up really well to MOST dogs, but Abrams sounds like Riff in his insane chewing, and even Tuffies are a problem for us. :( I'm in the same boat as you honestly. Riff LOVES toys and I'm trying desperately to find something that he can have. He had a hard Kong-like ball that he can't destroy, but he doesn't really like it. He's ripped his Cuz up fairly well. Rope toys he shreds and ingests. He can even get through antlers... one antler lasted Rowan over a year, but the antler that Southpaw sent us was chewed down to 1.5-2 inches in 30 minutes by Riff. How is that even possible???

Just my 2c on Tuffies. If he was *just* destroying them it would probably be good and last longer than other toys, but if he's inclined to eat it, I'd think twice, but I'm also very gun shy now.

I'm hopeful about the Aussie Naturals leather toy. I think that the rope pieces won't last for too long, but the toy itself seems very durable.
