Im just more curiouse than anything as I already have my next Breeds picked out.

-Breeds that are not soft. May be a more dominate breed. Can be handler soft.

-Working breed.

-Size does not matter

-Can have DA or DR tendecies.

-Aloof with strangers

-does not matter what Breed "group" breed it's in.

-confident and sure of itself

-Have protective nature

If I think of anything else I will add it.

Rottie!

I have the pleasure of teaching weaves to a trio of agility rotts this week and they are just a joy to work with. The drive is there, the biddability is there, they arn't soft and they are devoted to their handlers.

I think they've won me over.

I would go with a Rottie or a GSD for the #1 fact that you're more likely to find a good breeder.

I also think you need to go spend as much time as possible around these dogs.

A lot of breeds would fit your criteria. I guess it depends on what other traits you want/need :)

Oh yeah, Cattle Dog is a really good suggestion. They're a lot more feisty and hard headed too, seems like the type that you would like lol :p

Remember you can find dogs with in a breed that don't quite fit those descriptions. But what i can think of is.
Dalmatians(of course)
Ibizans (oddly enough for most of the criteria)
Rotties
Dobies
Cattle dogs.

lol that's a pretty wide description. The way I'm reading it, both a (proper) Cardi and a Dogo fit.

I don't have anything to add TO the list... but I definitely wouldn't put APBTs ON the list! They aren't aloof with strangers, and most aren't very "protective" either.

Definitely some good suggestions on breeds, though... lots of variety!

Totally agee, I find it funny when people automatically would add a APBT to a list like that. Every pitbull I have met has been a ooey, gooey mush ball of Love. Im trying to decided if I actually could own one or would it drive me insane lol

Other than the aloofness towads strangers and being DA/DR, Timber would fit your bill.

You've been doing some gr8 research
for quite some time now, Hayley,

:thumbsupsmileyanim:

but, quite often, ...

reading about these breeds bears little resemblance
to the reality - (for better or worse).

I hope you've been able to get up close and personal
with the breeds in which you're most interested!

:)

JRTs lol.

Though it depends on what you want protection from. My guys only get barky at people if they seem a bit "off" Though they bark their heads off when ANYONE comes onto the property.
