Dear lord yes. I would never ever EVER purchase from a breeder who couldn't spell the breed of dog that I am trusting them to be an EXPERT on!

If you're breeding dogs, at bare minimum you should know how to spell the breed's name. No way would I ever, ever support a breeder who couldn't at least do that much.

I don't know how people can keep messing up "Shepherd". Honestly, from what I've seen it's probably one of the most misspelled words ever. Obviously I don't see it a lot referring to Shepherds of the English variety LOL, but I've seen it misspelled by all sorts of German Shepherd and Australian Shepherd (often mini) BYBs.

I've seen:
Shephard
Sheppard
Shepperd
Sheperd
Shepard
etc etc etc.

Drives me up the freakin' wall.

I think if you own it and breed it you should know how to spell it :p

Now I can see a simple mistake happening, but to have bunches of them in the same add/website...that says something else entirely.

For anyone curious it's papillon.

P-A-P-I-L-L-O-N.

One p, two l's, and on, not ion.
On most days, I'm lucky if I can even PRONOUNCE your breed's name.:lol-sign:
It took an "Angie's List" commercial for me to be even know how to pronounce it. Uh, and that's assuming that the lady in the commercial pronounced it correctly.:lol-sign:
Whoosh!

Sorry, I had just never heard the breed's name pronounced before. :D

Oh don't worry, I get lots of people asking about the breed that have read the name but don't know how to say it. Most people come up and ask if they're 'pap-ill-eons'. So you're definitely not alone!

I've never seen the angie's list commercial but I say 'pap-ee-on'. (I'm really bad at spelling things phonetically. pap-ee-ahn might be closer. But the L's are silent at any rate.)

I just figure if you breed them you should be able to spell and say it.

how does the person in the commercial say it? Could be due to the french influence here that pretty much everyone says pap ee aun

Now, if the breeder were dyslexic or had some problem like that, or even someone who might be functionally illiterate but had been breeding their lines for (human) generations that would be a whole 'nother story.

I've never heard anyone say papillon any way besides "pap-ee-ahn" or some very similar variation of that. Thankfully.

One of my favorites was hearing a woman say "I have a chee-who-ah-who-ah".

When I'm being silly (AKA myself) that's how I pronounce it. But not around other people then my family, and I know how to actually pronounce it. Its just funner the other way :p

It's pretty hard to mess up "collie"

Althoguh I have typo'd and written "coolie" before. Therefore I spell "koolie" wityh a K ;)

I have, however, seen "smooth haired collies" and "short hair collies." It's smooth collie. That's it. Oh and ruff collie. lol
