I'm am going back & forth with the D40 & the D60 But i'm leaning more towards the D40. if i only bought One Lens Which should it be?? link's would be helpful.
If you're looking to get a separate zoom lens (from the lens you are currently looking for), then I'd be tempted to go with the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens.
It'll AF on your D40 or D60, has a wider aperture setting than the 18-55mm lens, it has macro capabilities, and it's a nice lens.
I used to own it.
What price are you looking for? It's $430 on amazon or Newegg (including shipping). A quick google search shows a cheap body for $300--are these lenses under $100? (and/or significantly better?)
Just playing devil's advocate! you may be right that it's a lot cheaper this way.
On the subjet of VR. . .I don't notice much difference. If your hands shake uncontrolably, then I would get a VR (Vibration Reduction) lens. They will cost you an arm and leg more, though.
Sorry for the mis-information! I just searched Nikon 50mm lens. The only lens I see that is the 50mm that says 'AF-S' is like $300 MORE than the 'AF' lenses. Why is that?
So which lens would you get -from Nikon- for macro?
