I know I haven't posted in the longest (I have been lurking), but I was just afraid of bashing and whatnot, but now I'm ready to speak about whats been going on with me and the dogs.
First thing though is some very tragic news, I had to put my souldog Didi to sleep. This was my eldest dog and whom I had for the longest and shared a special bond with. It was aso my first time ever putting a beoved pet of mine to sleep. She had been suffering from glaucoma (fully blind) and it had progressed. Her health kept getting worst, she also needed work on her dental and had a skin problem going on. She just didn't seem to be the same Didi, and it was the hardest decision I had to do, was let her go. But now she's in a better place and isn't suffering anymore.
Her last day was a good one, she ahd a walk one of her favorite things to do, and had some kfc chicken with bones. And her last moments was was quality time with me getting cuddled and scratched on her neck (she loved that), and me telling her she was my woogie woogie. I miss saying that.
R.I.P. Baby Girl I miss you so much!!
Now for the news I dreaded to tell anyone on here. I had an oops litter with one of my dogs, Princess the shih poo. I already had an oops litter with my dog Didi, and I just didn't think anyone would take me as a responsible owner anymore hearing about a 2nd oops litter.
She bred with my sister's shih tzu Lucky. The pups were born on 02/10/08. Had a total of 6 pups, 4 boys, 2 girls, natural birth, great delivery I was there the whole time (first 3 were 10 minutes apart, two hours later the other 3 were born), she cleaned all them off, ate the placentas, real good 1st time mom, she was also good with letting me handle the pups, everything went well. Unforunately though one pup, a girl, becamed chilled, had a slow heartbeat, and didn't suckled on the 2nd day and died. She was the first born and the smallest. Then on the 3rd day, Princess knocked over a bowl of water that was in the crate with her and the pups, and the pups got wet. We rushed the pups to the vets, they got heated up, but before we got there, the 2nd born, a boy, was too chilled and weak and didn't make it. I tired my best and put worth alot of effort to try and save these pups, and it killed me that I couldn't.
Now for as the momma, and for my other unspayed dog Princess the doxie, they're getting spayed in May at this event my city for s/n pets so this doesn't happen again, I was planning to get them both spayed anyway, but this ordeal happened first. And I'm not even going to not take fault in all this, because I should of been watching my unaltered female in heat with my sister's unaltered male more carefully, and I really should of had them separated at all times, and I didn't. I KNEW better, I don't know what else to say, I know the consequences of what could of happened, but even though nothing did happen (besides losing two pups), I am going to learn from this and come May I'll never have to worry about something like this happening again, instead of hoping it doesn't and saying I'll try my best for it not to happen, it just won't happen again, period.
All the pups have homes. I'm keeping one, my sister is keeping one, my friend is keeping one, and my sister's co-worker is keeping one (the only girl).
My friend had a shih tzu before, and the other day we went and brought puppy supplies.
My sister's co-worker has a lab and also is getting her spayed when she's old enough.
They were all given away and I made sure they went to good homes and they were going to be taken good care of, had the vet care they needed, and owners whereas I can get updates on how the pups are doing and have meet-ups/playdates then and there. And trust me this was not easy, I had to struggle with my sister's choices of who one of the puppy was going to, and thankfully I won the battle and got him placed in a good home. And I also put my foot down with my family's idea to sell the pups to make profit off them.
As for other pets, I only have left two parakeets (Toto & Kiki), so now my focus is now more on the dogs and I'm more able to spend more money and time on them.
Pictures & Videos on next post (I have from birth-now, and birth was 2/10 so its going to be ALOT!!)
Sorry for the crappy pictures & poor videos, my ex-boyfriend has my digital camera at the moment (which I'm STILL patiently waiting for its return) and all this time I've been taking cell phone pics and videos.
