Marq vomitting yellow stomach bile

He hasn't eaten in two days. I don't think he's pooped. He hasn't been as active, though I wouldn't call him lethargic. He woke me up at 2 49am last night puking up whatever bit of dog food he actually ate, the steak my mom tried putting in his food to bribe him to eat, and just loads of stomach bile. Tonight he had nothing to throw up but yellow bile with only a bit of foam. It was mostly ALL bright yellow bile.

My poor boy. He was even such a good boy to not do it on the bed, but instead race to the door though he couldn't get out because it was closed.

Does anyone have any clue what might be wrong with him? My mom is calling the vet tomorrow to set up an appointment for Cocoa. I'm going to have her call for him too.

I'm going to be so broke.

Poor guy... has he ever gone off his food before? I'm not even going to pretend I know what's up with him, but I'd see if he'd eat *anything mild* to make his tummy less upset - a hunk of bread, some rice, boiled chicken... mild cereal.... I bet the bile puke is due to his empty tummy.

Has he pooped? Is it posisble he could have an obstruction?

Good thoughts coming you and Marq's way... :(

We didn't think much of it when he wouldn't eat because he's always been a very picky eater and we've always had to fight with him to get him to eat.

We don't have any brown rice or chicken at home, or I'd gladly feed it to him.

We dont' know if he's blocked up or not. We have a doggy door, so we don't know if he's been pooping. I'm walking him in the morning and my mom is going to keep a very close watch on him. I left a note for my mom in the morning to call the vet immediately if he hasn't yet pooped or isn't looking better. He's fed Nutro Ultra, and I know there's been problems with the food before, but not the dry.

I have no clue what he could have gotten into that would have blocked him up though. He' snot a chewer and there's not a whole lot around the house or anything that he could swollow or eat.

If it makes you feel any better, Kharma pukes up that yellow, foamy stomach bile when her belly's too empty.

And she goes on hunger strikes when she's not happy about something.

It's just not like Marq at all. Yesterday he just puked up a massive amount of bile and steak and dog food. But the thing is, he hardly ate any dog food at all except for a bit around the steak pieces. We're thinking he's puking up old food that never got pooped out.

My mom thought at first he was just being jealous of Spook.. but it is very obvious it is more than that. He's feeling really sick.

Throwing up yellow bile and not eating were the first signs of Joey's obstruction this past summer when he swallowed the koosh ball. I'd definitely see the vet and maybe get an x-ray or a barium study done. My vet didn't want to do an x-ray right away and it ended up being a week before we realized that he had swallowed something.

Marq ate both his breakfast and lunch today. He has not puked anymore. I don't know if he has had a bowel movement yet, but because he's eating now and looks to be feeling better, we've held off on calling the vet just yet. We are still watching closely, though.

AND, it has scared me into looking for a better food. Through research I've found a LOT of people have problems with their dogs throwing up large amounts of bright yellow bile on Nutro,... We'll try the Chicken Soup again in the mean time, but I'm goign to do more research into food again. I'd REALLY love it if I could get my two on Canidae.. The one time we had samples of Canidae Marq ate the kibbles like candy! We usually practically have to force food down his throat.

Just as one thing seems to get better, it all has to turn to **** again.

Now he's limping. He hits his feet because he's so **** clumsy about once a week.. but he's been limping for an hour and it won't go away. He doesn't want to put pressure on it, but he showed no signs of pain when I was squeezing, poking, and prodding to try and find the source of his limping. There is no swelling, nothing at all other than his limping to indicate something is wrong.

I can't afford a broken leg. I just can't.

He's walking on it now. Still not great or back to normal, but he'll put pressure and weight on it.

Perhaps this makes me an awful dog owner Grammy, but unless my dogs actually need it, I cannot go around making vet appointments all the time. For one, I don't have a car and cannot drive. For two, I don't have the money to pay for the vet visit and the gas every time my dog has a bump or scratch.

If they absolutely need it, of course I will. I'll exhaust every fund imaginable if for some reason he broke his leg and needed to go to the vet. And I'm paying for all of Cocoa's costs with her eye now. But I have myself to worry about still too.

umm this might sound harsh. But if you are that stretched (I remember those days, they are not fun) Why do you get more dogs? I am NOT one to go to the vet for bumps and scratches either. (even when I have the money) But things like repeated vomiting and such can be indications of some very unminor things!! I understand you have to deal with your parents, but if that was the case I would forget about the agility and obed, and save every penny for those times when your parents won't help you, you can then pay a friend, neighbour, or even a cab if you have too.

^^^^Agreed, Dekka. Hopefully it's all worked itself out now, though.

Oh yeah, and since he didn't eat and vomited for how ever many days, he might naturally just not have a bowel movement because of that. I know my dog takes exactly 2 days to have a bowel movement after she's been sick. Just make sure he's drinking and not having any trouble peeing.

We don't "get more dogs". I don't know where you have gotten that idea from.

In the winter months we must pay, but in one more month all of my classes will be free all summer long again(because I will be in 4-H). And also this winter we weren't even going to classes because we couldn't afford the gas money after my dad's heart attack. We aren't wasting a terrible amount on classes. For all four of us kids to do classes its under 100 dollars. And I just can't quit because I have dogs that I train for them.

What about Spook?

I would be worried about the vomiting since it doesn't sound like he can keep food down and you don't know if anything is coming out. It sounds like an obstruction if he hasn't made any bowel movements lately.

Umm you just posted a bit ago about the new dog you were fostering. And I didn't mean stop training your dogs, just less competing and classes while things are tight. (I have had to give up a lot of classes and trials to still have money for things while i have gone back to school. Its not fun, but its only temporary)

Fostering is NOT to keep. If you read that he is a foster, I'm not sure where you have the problem. We are NOT keeping him.

I don't compete, and when I do I don't have to pay for my runs. And my classes are not good ones and are not expensive at all. If we did have to pay for our own runs, I'd give that up in a heart beat..but we don't, so that isn't costing us anything.

But when you foster don't you incur extra expense? I foster too. I don't have to pay vet bills, but I would still have to drive the foster to the vet if he/she needed it. And I still feed the foster dogs the same quality of food my dogs get etc etc. It just seems so strange, you say you have all these issues with your parents and have so much just to look after yourself, I worry that you won't be able to look after the dogs AND you.
