Cropping and docking illegal in New York

I think it's wonderful that my province passed an anti dock/anti crop law. The breeders protested and it's going to make it hard for them to show in the States...but, oh well...it's just a beauty contest There is nothing nicer than a Rottie with a full tail. Dobe breeders are going to have to get away from the grey hound look and start breeding dogs that suit their new look...perhaps bring Rottie back into the breeding.

Sure. This is something the government needs to control, right? People better get used to the idea of NO DOGS, because with the attitude like that one above, it will come about most likely in your lifetimes.

If the ARs are not stopped, pure bred dogs will be gone within 20 years, MAYBE LESS. Maybe your province needs to go ahead and pass a mandatory spay.neuter law for all dogs over 4 months of age too.

Then let's see how long your province enjoys the companionship of dogs. Or how fast the purchase price of ANY dog sky rockets when only a very few who are able to afford the high licencing fees and permits required for intact dogs.

Because that comes right after the docking and cropping gets outlawed.

Thankfully nothing like this in our area has been proposed--hopefully this does not end up passing.

Truthfully, I doubt I would crop or dock any dog I own but I'll not tell others what they should do with their animals--not a road I want to go down.

Just to reiterate what Red said earlier, this bill DID NOT PASS NOR HAS IT MOVED OUT OF COMMITTEE!!!
The article published in The Dog Press is FALSE as it pertains to the passing of the ANTI-docking bill in NY State.

Many of us have written letters to the editor of The Dog Press asking for an immediate retraction but as of this date, one has not appeared.

Erroneous reporting of this nature has caused immense confusion in an already confusing and HECTIC legislative year. We have ENOUGH going on right now without spreading ourselves even thinner to deal with clearing up false reports.

The NY legislative session is (THANKFULLY!) almost over....the anti-docking bill has no companion bill in the senate and it is VERY unlikely that this bill will do anything other than sit where it is and has been for months.

What you all CAN DO to help in the fight against the ARs (animal radicals, was animal "rightists"), is to JOIN your STATE's PET-LAW email list!!!! Every state has VERY dedicated hard-working animal owners/breeders that NEED YOU!!!

There are four weeks left to the 2009 regular session, so it looks like this bill is unlikely to pass.

How obvious it is that you have no experience with dog shows, Dobermans, OR Rottweilers.

Dobermans are NOT supposed to look like Rottweilers. That's why they're Dobermans. They are not supposed to look like greyhounds... and they don't. The are, however, supposed to have nice tuckups and deep chests for the same reason why sighthounds have deep chests - more lung capacity.

just thought maybe we needed a comparison.. the doberman is on the right (the one that comes in 2 colors) lol this soo reminds me of the shelter mentality "black and brown?" rottweiler. lol
