Arrow How long is too long when it comes to bearing a grudge?

It's interesting to observe Sola now that she has recovered from the throat stabbing. She won't go near sticks, and she's afraid of her water bowl. She drank just after the hole was ripped in her throat, and I think it hurt so badly that she suspects the water bowl itself. Any other bowl is fine.

I'm sure she will find a way to forget this with time, and that's a good thing, because I don't know if I'll ever recover from this one.

Does your dog remember unpleasant experiences long after they have passed? I'm hoping to help Sola avoid a phobia.

Some dogs never get over a traumatic experience, some take a while and come around and some won't be affected more than a few days. Think it all depends on a dog's temperament. A shy dog may never recover where a bolder type might just shrug it off after a few days.

I so enjoyed reading the whole story of Mr. Stick. You've got a way with words.

Being a Lab, she'll get over it soon enough. Glad she's on the mend though and if the issue seems to stem around just that one certain bowl, make life easy on all of you and replace it with a shiny new, stick-trauma-free model.

What a wonderful writer you are!

Glad Sola is on the mend and glad you got your revenge on Mr. Stick.

very funny!

As to your question if i take victor around a vet office basement he is terrified. IF he gets around dogs that have been in a shelter he is wide eyed with fear. IT has been 5 years and that hasn't changed. I use t-touch and calming words that we have worked on when i know we have to test for pets for life because the vet's basement is exactly where we have to go. HE is better, but still very much relieved when we leave.
