I got Murphy from the shelter where they named him Sarge (ugh). He didn't respond to anything really and I'm a big fan of Celtic names (also I was really into Flogging Molly at the time - an Irish punk band) and Murphy just fit.

Mu was kind of accidentally named. She was originally supposed to be named Pants since I call Murphy Murphypants anyway but it didn't fit. Then I thought "Hmmm. Cow dog...cows moo...Mu!!" Not realizing at the time that Mu is a greek letter as well. Oh well. It fits.

Jackson came from Johnny Cash's song "Jackson." We had just seen the Walk the Line movie a few days before getting him on TV and it stuck! He just looked like a Jackson!

We have used Dukes of Hazard names also. We had a dog named Roscoe (Shar-pei mix) so when we got our Chihuahua we decided to name her Daisy. Tanner's original name was Clayton but my husband suggested his current name because he was tan colored. Kota was originally Dakota, but his name was shortened by my daughter and it stuck. We had a dog named Dutch because we had gotten her from an Amish family.

I have no idea why Lynn's name is Lynn. I just liked it!

Ruckus was named Ruckus because I thought it was cool and tuff sounding. but he is actually named after uncle Ruckus from the Boondocks. We were going to name Lynn Jasmine from the boondocks, but it just didnt stick.

We didn't actually choose our dog's name- he came with it. We bought him from a woman who breeds dogs continuously, and she goes through the alphabet every time one of her dogs gives birth. My dog happened to be born on the 'O', so his name (oskar) as well as all of his siblings names begin with 'O'!
