It's not terribly uncommon )I mean most don't use a leaf blower. But most all proffesional groomers use what's called a high velocity dryer, or force dryer. Both have a very powerful blast. I use it on all the dogs I groom at my shop from the tiniest toy poodle to the biggest dogs.

Oh I did not know groomers used such powerful dryers. Are the little dogs scared of them?

Not really, some may be a bit timid but get used to it. If they are clearly scared and destressed we of course won't use it on them but most do just fine if brought up properly (starting with their first grooming as soon as they are vaccinated, coming in fairly often at first so dog gets socialized and desensitized to it, then brought in roughly every 6 weeks depending on breed, haircut and such like that) and even some that are not brought up real well do pretty good with it too. Of the ones that freak out a bit they freak just as much at the water than they do at the air. Here's a pic of my poodle being forced dryed
