If you feel immune from BSL - List of 75 banned or restricted breeds

Last night I did a quick search and can't find WHERE the Alapaha is restricted, but I did find other sources with a similar list and they said that Alapahas are listed because they are over 100 pounds. Which is funny since the breed standard says that females should be 55-75 and males 70-90. Can they be over 100 pounds? I guess so. So far I've only personally known of one over 90 pounds, so to say that they are a generally ginormous breed is rediculous!!

Granted, the whole list is rediculous but that's why we fight BSL isn't it?

Whether the list is 100% accurate or not, would you let that stop you from fighting something that is fundamentally wrong? Guys, this is not something I feel like arguing. I guess its naive of me to hope that everybody could just get behind something, whether all the facts for the public presentation were properly sourced or not. Add your name, or don't add your name. It makes precious little difference to me. I will keep doing as I always do, with or without the support of others.

Here's a list of what they regulate in Italy. Its not properly sourced because I don't remember where I found it. But a lot of it was in Italian and I had to translate the breeds so that they made sense to us Americans.

I couldn't find the 56 breed list, though I'm sure it'll come across the mailing list I'm on again sometime. But I did find the list of restricted breeds from Italy, which is pretty interesting. The English names for most of them were provided, but some I don't understand. It seems like they went along and just banned whole kennel club groups. [bracketed comments mine]

Another way of spelling it would be the old way "Tervueren" (correct spelling of the town in Belgium)

I'm only one person, but I wanted to say that I've only been bitten by two dogs my whole life, it bled and I probably should've gone to the dr and got a couple of stitches both times. The first one was a Golden, she was very human aggressive, she climbed the fence she was in and latched onto my leg (I was walking Maddie at the time)
(the other dog it was kinda my fault because I was breaking up a dog fight the way your NOT supposed to. . .)

Probably the most direct thing is to get ahold of your local councilmen, state representatives, etc., and ask them not to support BSL. Present thought-out arguments about why it is ineffective, and remember to be polite. Get on a BSL mailing list, and when you hear about someplace wanting to pass BSL, email, call, fax, whatever you can do. If you can attend town meetings and such where BSL is proposed, lend your voice against it. Also get involved with your local dog clubs, as sometimes they can be instrumental in fighting BSL. (I say sometimes because some clubs just don't care since it doesn't directly affect them. Other clubs wont move their shows out of a BSL area because of cost or other reasons.)

Granted a mysterious list highlights a cause, but it doesn't help win the battle.
