I have to say that while we are a reputable breeder who is actively showing, improving and promoting our breed, I've been online and I've seen some of the "breeders" websites and I am appalled at what they are using for breeding stock. If it's a purebred, registered dog then they feel it is good enough for breeding. I don't care if it's registered, if it's a purebred or if it comes from champion bloodlines. If it doesn't meet the breed standards (that includes the white colour) and doesn't have an EXCELLENT temperment then it should NOT be used for breeding. That's why so many Boxers and other purebred dogs end up in shelters and in rescues. People think that they are getting what the breed is best known for and end up getting a substandard dog with a substandard temperment (or worse). A lot of people breed because they "love" the breed and want to share it with others. So, they take their unfixed ***** and breed it with the neighbors unfixed male without any thought to conformation, health or temperment. This is the majority of "breeders" in the U.S. and Canada. This is where the majority of castoff dogs come from. These people need to be educated. Then of course.... there are those who are having 6 litters of puppies a year.... and they do not show or health test their dogs so obviously they are in it for the money. I see far more subpar breeders on the 'net then I see reputable breeders. Because reputable breeders only have 1 litter every year or two, I can see where people get impatient to own a puppy and end up buying from these "backyard" breeders. Right now, we have over 70 people waiting for a puppy from our next litter. Obviously we are going to have a lot of disappointed people but.... we will not breed to meet demand. Our priority is to breed when we need to improve upon what we already have.

Hi Chaz. Where may I post my request for a chi/doxi or chidoxi mix? I'm not having luck with shelters or rescues in my county here in NY. I can afford $300.00-$350.00 hoping that this will include neutering and being vetted. Might be willing to pay for transportation, depending on cost. Prefer to get from local but will go farthur. Is there a limit to the number of ads that can be uploaded to the classifieds section per day or total number? I have posted a few but then I started to get them kicked back to me. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is an advertisement far from appropriate for a well educated, dog-friendly community like I have found Chazhound to be. If you follow this advertiser's link to his or her website, you see a half naked woman first off, and if you continue to the store portion of the website, you can purchase a number of lovely items featuring slogans that seem to suggest support for dogfighting and the perception of APBTs as vicious dogs.

For example, that lovely picture of a pittie's teeth, with a slogan that seems to my rescue volunteer brain to hint at dogfighting.

I will probably get flamed for even bringing this up, but it is quite upsetting to me that a website that includes so much good information on dog care, training, socialization, et al, has an advertiser who seems uneducated, crude, and has borderline pornography on his front page.

Thanks Chaz for providing so many opportunities for fledgling pet businesses to get the word out. So many of these sites are busy throwing you off the bus if you just mention a website. By the way, if we choose to use your classified section, how many areas can we post in? In other words, if our product is good for both dogs and cats, may we post a classified in both areas, or only one? Thank you!
