Default Remember

Remember the small nightmare that plagued my home and life in the form of terrier for so long ? You know, the dog that drew blood on numerous occasions, who had panic attacks resulting in him running around screaming as if he was hallucinating? The one who was so overprotective he snarled at my boyfriend (or any other person) who put a hand on me? The one who was mostly always locked up when we had guests out of fear of a lawsuit?

These are a few quotes from past threads:

Finally Milo just stopped trying. Which would have been lovely, but Benji was HOLDING him. Paws wrapped around him, lying on him, not attacking but every time I went close he'd go back after Milo. Whose head was covered in blood. My pants were all bloody. The floor was all bloody. There was dog hair everywhere. I couldn't breathe. I was coughing like crazy, my chest hurt, and I was just trying to keep from throwing up again.

This dog is going to give me a heart attack one day.

Zach says if I'm not around, Milo's much better with him. I believe it, he pretty much resource guards me. So I'm hoping everything goes smoothly.

If we're sitting on the floor playing game, Milo will walk around the group of us, get a pet by everyone, and then pass Zach by growling and yanking on his shirt or nipping him in the same puppy way. Zach responds to this by saying "ow!" and I usually respond by saying "no!" removing Milo, or asking him to leave, or distracting him.
...

I told Zach to put him out of the room so he said "c'mon Milo" and headed to the door. HA. As if Milo would in a trillion years follow Zach AWAY from me. So I got up, went to the door, and asked Milo to go out. He reluctantly did so. My brother was in the hallway...and apparently as soon as I shut my bedroom door the little monster peed on it.
...
I know Milo's never gonna love Zach. He's never going to choose to sit next to him over me, or follow him out of a room I'm in, or bring a toy to him over me.
...

GAH. Eventually we'll all be living together. It'd be nice if I didn't worry about Milo eating my fiancee.

I'd just like to announce, we spent the entire holidays WITH Milo right in the center of the action, behaving. We spent Christmas eve with my entire family *Zach included* sitting in the living room watching him and Benji chase each other manically with their new toys (which they made very clear they wanted right then and not the next morning).

They spent the first snowfall bounding around together outside...

right now they're both passed out at my feet.

Sometimes I walk into the bedroom and see Milo stretched across Zach's chest. He wakes him up by licking him all over his face.

Some friends came over and we even managed to play an intense, action-packed game of pictionary with Milo lying calmly next to us, not threatening anyone.

He spent new year's eve playing fetch with my best friend's new boyfriend (he used to HATE strange men).

I might even bring him to work one of these days

Wowzers! That's real progress. You must be so glad! You must have done something to make them secure that you don't need to be "possessed," or guarded, that you're there for both of them. Way to go!

AWESOME! That is FANTASTIC news!

I like to go back over old posts sometimes.........it's sort of like a "baby book" LOL, somethings you forget, and some you block out LOL, it's nice to see the little steps of progress all come together!
