 Morning Throw Up My new dog who I have only had for two weeks is a bit of a puker. He only does it in the middle of the night or early morning. He had had a crazy month (abandoned at park-adopted, back and forth between my place and my parents', neutering), so i think some of it is nerves or from his pain pills, but just wanted to get some input... He's thrown up dog food about 4 times. No trouble pooping... Thanks

| It might be nerves, it might be a reaction from his pain pills, it might be an empty stomach. What is your feeding schedule for him? Some dogs puke when their bellies get too empty.

| Yeah, what does the puke look like and what is the feeding schedule? Foamy yellow vomit would indicate that the dog's stomach is empty and he's throwing up bile. If that is the case, give him a snack before you go to bed. Could it be that he's not used the kind or amount of food you're giving him? What he really thin when you got him?

| If he's throwing up food and not bile could it be some heart burn? I'd talk to your vet, they may advise to use pepcid for a while to settle his tummy.

| I will talk to his vet about Pepcid. He eats twice a day (Purina Pro Plan) and gets treats in the evening (People Crackers and soft chews). God love him, he doesn't like the fancy treats like Greenies or homemade Chicken treats

| aw, poor guy! sounds like stress related...but i would just try to give him good food, tons of love, and if anything continues or gets worse, call your vet. good luck and hope he feels better soon! |

| I hope this settles down for you. My dog has had stomach trouble ever since we adopted him. It would get better at times with food changes, but last year he developed obvious IBD. He's on a limited ingredient diet now, (duck and rice), and that seems to have settled him down for the time being and he has been off Flagyl since then.

| Feeding right before bed helps some dogs. Sometimes doc prescribes metoclopramide (Reglan) to give before bed.

| Maybe I should ask about Reglan. It's looking like the duck and rice might not be the miracle food I was hoping.
