Default Tape Worm

I've never had a dog with worms before. Need to go to the vet during my break between class and work.

I was wondering how long after dosing will worms start to die off and quit crawling out of Cider's rectum?

I barely slept last night. The thought of worms wiggling out of her to go who knows where really upset me..

should begin having an effect almost immediately, but will take a few days for it to completely clear. Just a heads up though, be ready for there to be a lot of worms and worm segments in her poop while it is clearing up though, and be ready for some really, really smelly poops.

When I had to treat tape worm the segments seemed to stop very quickly(I'd say within a about 4 hours or so of first treatment).

.... and I'm not sure about canadian laws, but here you can get panacur over the counter.... it saves the $50 exam fee since you already know exactly what is wrong...

Panacur C: Wormer for Dogs - 1800PetMeds

^^^ is what I use, but if I were you I would just go to a local pet supply place and pick up some wormer...

Tapeworms are usually associated with fleas, make sure your dog is treated for any flea problems to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I believe panacur you can get over the counter.. but are you absolutely positive it is tape worm? I would be tempted to go to the vet anyways

Tape is oh so easy to diagnose. Every couple of years we seem to get it (but never see fleas) I go to my vet they give me a 6 dollar pill and they go away, till the next few years.

Tape worms are very easy to identify once pieces are coming out....

and panacur is a broad spectrum wormer, and it's one of the safest ones to give... which is why pretty much all the vets(at least in my area) use it. It comes in mulitple forms(liquid, powder, pill) but it's still the same stuff.

She had all of one flea which is why I thought they were rounds last night. Someone shared a youtube video of a tape segment dancing around. Oh these are definitely tapes..

We haven't had a flea issue in years. Though she apparently managed to ingest one.

Vet wouldn't diagnose my piece of worm in a jar without the dog. Can't take the dog to school. So guess I'm self treating as I don't have time off till friday and I can't put up with worm all over the house.

I'm horrified. I REALLY hope the segments come out dead from here on out. Yuck.
