Default Clipper Confusion... Groomers HELP!

I have been looking at getting a clipper for doing touch ups on the yorkies... I dont cut the length of their body, it would only be for shaving the lower stomach (the sanitary groom) and touching up their butt! These are the only two things that start needing to be cut, long before they need to go in a for professional job.

Someone said the best thing to use is a Mini clipper for these areas... is this a different kind of clipper or a different blade?

Also what is a decent brand? I want something good, that will do the job and last but I dont need anything heavy duty or professional.

If you want to give me the link to the exact clipper I should buy, I will REALLY thank you!

Thank You!

sorry, i am not much help

we just use regular clippers with a #10 blade on them for sanitary trims, and even paw pads.

I like to use a #10 blade for these areas too. I really like the Andis clippers myself. The problem with a mini clipper is that the blade is going to be very short on them. Usually they cut to a #40 length which is too short and easy to cut the tender skin on a yorkie's lower belly. I did find that pet edge has these clippers on special right now, although I have never used them they have what I would recommend for the basic sanitary clips between groomings.

PetEdge: Andis Easy Clip Clipper Kit

The problem with a very cheap trimmer is that 1. you won't find a good blade length for these areas and a comb attatchement will not work for these places, and 2. they often do not have the power to cut through the fur and instead tangle and pull the fine yorkie hair.

Hope this helps! If you do decide to go with a more professional model (and you would have it for years and years and years!) I would recommend the:

PetEdge: Andis AGC Super 2-Speed Clipper 220-Volt

Although these clippers would work great for what you want, they certainly would go above and beyond the basic cut you are looking for.

I've personally never used them but I've read a lot of poodle owners, who aren't groomers, use Wahl mini arco clipper for quick feet and face touch ups. I think Bigpoodleperson uses it.

Thank You All!

I was not set on one of these, Its just what I heard and wasnt sure what people were talking about.

I will just go with a regular clipper then.... my groomer is probably going to kill me, I dont think she likes my little touch up jobs, LOL!
