they tried to put my sister on the seasonique and it states soooo clearly on the packaging "NOT SUITABLE FOR PATIENTS PRONE TO MIGRANES" she just happens, like myself, to get horrible migranes multiple times a month...

the deppo works well for me, but the likes of the 3 month pill thing...i dunno theres just something about those that bother me.
truth or not...

I could never be on that form of pill where you go months between periods. For one, I just have a hard time believing that its perfectly ok for my body not to have a period every month, when that's what it was made to do; and two, I need the monthly assurance that I'm not pregnant. I do some less-than healthy things (have a couple drinks on the weekend, take REALLY hot showers) that I wouldn't do if I were pregnant.

What's unhealthy about having a couple of drinks on the week end if you're not pregnant Kenny girl? You should drink more. LOL. It's good for your heart and arteries.

I totally agree with you Kenny girl.

I don't care what Snopes says. Artificially interrupting and stopping very important function of our bodies can not be healthy at all. That alternating on and off, on and off, just doesn't make one bit of sense. All that tissue and blood...hormones going haywire....what is it suppose to do with itself when it's suddenly interrupted?

lots of BC pills have risks of blood clots.

As far as the period thing goes, as I understand it, the "period" you get while on the pill isn't a "real" period anyway. I can't take the seasonal pills (my body only likes one type of pill) but I have gone months skipping the last week of my pills and going to the next pack, which has the same effect. Never had a problem.

I'm currently off the pill for a medical reason (nothing to do with any effects of the pill) and frankly I miss my pills

LOL! I'm picky about my drinks. I only like the super sweet ones. Plus, I haven't made any drinkin' buddies yet. My hubby is a light-weight

I don't take the pills where it tells you you only get your period every few months, I take regular daily pills. However I will take 4 packs in a row, skipping the last week (when you'd get your period) so I have three months period free. My doctor said I could never have my period if that's what I choose (I think that's a bit much though). to be honest it's the greatest thing ever, i'm on the pills due to severe cramps and heavy bleeding.

So is it dangerous because you are going so long without a period or is it simply the brands themselves? Perhaps they are stronger.

Actually, having monthly periods for years on end is more detrimental to our bodies than stopping. We were meant to begin menstruating later, like early teens and begin having babies earlier, around 18-20. But with our lifestyles and the addition of hormones into much of what we eat, we are beginning to menstruate earlier, as young as 8 years old in some cases and putting off babies until our late 20's and early 30's. We are having dozens more periods than our predcessors and that might not necessarily be a good thing. The studies are still being done.

Blood clots are a risk with ANY birth control, it's common knowledge and stated on all packaging. Smoking increases the risk, etc. etc.

I am with Zoom on this one. Its not normal for us to menstruate for years on end. Starting and stopping is far more natural. Many bc methods trick our bodies into thinking we are pregnant. (hormonally) which is a far more natural state than bareness.
