not quite the same thing. A spay/abort would be a more appropriate comparison.

yes some people realy want to adopt an INFANT...(which ill admit drives me a little bit batty, a kid is a kid is a kid...they ALL deserve loving families) but theres more than enough in this world as it stands.
I know a few couples who have adopted, and one did wait for an infant, they had never been able to have a natural child, and had very few children around them... for them the idea of adopting an older child was intimidating, they felt they could grow/ learn with an infant... and they did, years later they adopted a 4 year old

I can understand for rape. Rape always changes everything...... but I will never ever understand killing your own child simply because you had an "oops" pregnancy. It wouldn't matter if I was fourteen, if the father took off.. if I chose to have sex and had an accidental pregnancy, the least I could do was let the child keep its life.

When you become pregnant, life is NOT about YOU, YOU, YOU anymore. It is about that child. And that is why, IMO, it IS an argument about that child's life, and not an argument about keeping your nice, convenient, responsibility free, consequence free life anymore. Just the opinion of a mommy that DOES have a child from an unplanned pregnancy and never once thought to get rid of the pregnancy because of my own selfish desires to continue living my life without any responsibility or consequences for my actions. I just can't imagine ever killing the beautiful baby that came out of me.

I for one, don't like to really give a "this is RIGHT and this is WRONG" opinion about the abortion issue, because i have never been in that situation so I don't really think im in the position to judge those that have gone through it. its easy for me to say "oh id keep it, its MY responsibility" its a whole nother thing for me to be looking at that positive pregnancy test and seeing my whole future being thrown away

Im in college, im going to be a vet, I want to get married BEFORE I have kids. there are things I want to do, places I want to see, things I want to experience.. and none of those things would be possible if I got pregnant. is it a little selfish? ya. but I honestly dont know WHAT i would do if faced with that situation
then again, I wouldn't be.. because Im not having sex lol but thats not the point. still, I dont want to make judgements since ive never had to go through that

but I will say, that I dont think it should be illegal. It also shouldnt be a method of birth control or a "woops, I did it again.. back to the clinic!" thing.

Maybe if more education about birth control, condoms etc.. could be done in schools and colleges. it would be LESS of a problem.

That abstinence only education thing is BS all around. 90% of teens are GOING TO HAVE SEX, lets atleast educate them on how to do it safely so they dont end up knocked up or with an STD. Of course tell them that abstinence is the only 100% safe way, im not saying to give them all condoms and tell them to go nuts, but I think they should be educated about BOTH sides of the spectrum. safe sex AND abstinence

and I think that will in turn atleast lower the number of abortions that are happening..

It's just hard to believe that in a culture obsessed with rights (women's rights, minority rights, gay and lesbian rights, animal rights) we take every right from the unborn, even the right to life.

I don't think almost anyone is "pro abortion," really, but pro choice.

Much of the issue comes down to when one believes life begins -- and that is an issue on which it is very difficult to change another's mind.

I am with tessa. I did have an oops pregnancy, and aborting was the last thing on my mind, even when her father told me he would support me either way. I was actually appaled by his comment. I couldn't imagine taking the life from something that I made. I was 20 at the time. Living with mom. No job. No nothing and I've managed to make it. Now I have two. BUT I would never judge someone for having an oops abortion. Once, fine. Twice? That's a different story, as I don't believe in using abortion as birth control. My friend got pregnant around the same time I did with madison. She aborted and later regreted it. Wishing she could bring her baby back and can't do a d@mn thing about it. She has dreams about the child she killed comming back to her. I can't imagine what that must be like.....

My response to tessa is basically this. I don't believe it's a life until a certain age. Until then it's a fetus, not a baby to me. And no, it's not all about the baby just because its inside me by accident.

I don't think its imperative to throw away one's future because of one accident for a blob of cells.

That said, my lack of religion may play strongly in my belief of making abortion a choice because I don't see it as killing some sentient soul to abort a 10 week old fetus.
