 Neon Needs Surgery Ok, nothing major, just a retained baby tooth that will be pulled. It is not a canine, but is the tooth next to the canine, on the outside, so it is still a good sized tooth. The baby tooth is not loose at all, but it is rotten and the adult tooth is getting rotten too. Neon is raw fed, prey model. How soon can I put him back on the raw diet after his procedure? And what is the best canned food to buy for him while his little mouth heals?

| I've always been told innova evo has the best canned food, but I'm not sure.

| There is no reason why you shouldn't go right back on raw. No need to shock your dog's system by switching their diet back to kibble or canned. I work at a vet and pull teeth all the time and a deciduous (ie baby) tooth extraction is nothin' to worry about, unless they are pulling the adult tooth with it...and from what your description of the tooth is, your dog doesn't use it that much for chewing. If you are worried about discomfort in your dog's mouth after the procedure, feed something soft or ground for a day or two or possibly canned fish. Good luck!

| Fozzie got both of his puppy canines pulled when he was neutered... poor little Neon! ;( I fed Fozz pre-made (Primal) while he was recovering. |
