Wow, thanks for all of these suggestions! I didn't expect a few of these, I guess I don't understand enough about dog breed science!

Lab mix was my first guess but I thought her snout was too long to be one, but I suppose a terrier in the mix could be enough to change that. She does have the standard terrier shape about her in much of her face and body.

I see dachshund in the face too especially because she has that arched snout and the ears and eyes are very dachshund-like. Typing dachshund/labrador mix in google images brings up photos of dogs that look pretty similar to her so I think you might be on to something.

After some more searching though, I think she might be a black lab/beagle mix. Doing an image search of that mix brings up identical dogs and they even have the patch of white fur on the chest and fingertips. What do you guys think?

Would a black lab mixed with a terrier/beagle/dachshund/small dog (whichever we end up deciding is the most likely case) make a small-medium dog then? Maybe somewhere between a terrier and border collie? That's how I imagine it, but I don't know nearly enough about dog breeding to be very confident in that guess! Am I way off or is that a decent estimate? (I have a glen of imaal terrier mix and I'm imagining the puppy to be a bit bigger than her when she's an adult.)

Germany. I only made that guess because I saw puppy pictures that looked very similar to her.

I don't see any hound in her. Her face looks pretty thin and delicate, so I'd say there could be some collie of some sort. You will get a better idea once she is grown! I've seen some cross breeds that look nothing like their second breed, so guessing can be really difficult. What is her temperament like?

Generally with mixes they often will be about half their adult weight at 4 months of age. It's not a fool proof guesstimate, but it's the best one I know of. Given that, she'll likely be around 30lbs full grown and that would certainly fit with a lab/beagle or lab/JRT or Dach.

I don't have any breed guesses, but I did want to say how beautiful she is. What a lovely pup!

Ah, I see. Yeah, that's true. My aunt has a rottweiler/australian cattle dog mix and only her fur colouring and her ears resemble a rottweiler, the rest of her is total australian cattle dog.

She is EXCESSIVELY dominant. We have been in 1-2 hour long dominance battles with her. She really, REALLY wants to be the pack leader, but we are more persistent and stubborn than she is so we will always win, haha! She has extreme amounts of energy at all times and is very playful and quite the chewing machine, which I imagine is normal for all puppies. She is very sweet and loving though and already knows where her home is and she is a fast learner. She still picks up her water bowl and tries to play with it though, it drives us crazy! Not sure if it's a matter of repetition for her to understand it finally but that is one of her bad behaviours that she hasn't grown out of yet. We're also trying to teach her that she can only come onto the couch when she is invited by us, and I think she understands the concept but she often will jump on top of it for a few seconds and jump off before we can scold her, or she will jump up there when we leave the room as a sort of, "Ha! Ha! I can be up here when you're not looking!"

I didn't know that, thanks for that information!

If you live in Germany, there are going to be different breeds available to choose from that we may not be familiar with in the US and Canada!! My guesses would change significantly now ... maybe mixed with some sort of hunting terrier breed, like a Jagdterrier.

Hm, you're right, I do see the similarities with the jagdterrier.
