This individual cop has made it painfully obvious he is not suited to the job. You don't even use a gun to stop a dogfight between dogs, it's happening too fast and there is too high of a risk of injuring the defending dog. I can NOT imagine how anybody would think it's a good idea to shoot in the direction of a person, even if it had been a real attack. The headline easily could have been "Woman shot and killed by cop during dog attack".

Just as you wouldn't want someone who vomits at the sight of blood to be an EMT, I wouldn't want someone with such poor judgment to be a cop. I hope his butt gets kicked to the curb.
This.

Talk about a knee-jerk reaction. "ZOMG a pitbull that is moving! Better kill it quick!"

X2

I play rough with my dog at the park, I guess someone could think I was being attacked by him.

I can understand making a "hardass" decision like with the pug, but this just reeks of frantic, impulsive stupidity and I have no tolerance for that, especially with a COP.

I live next to that town. He should not be a cop. I Hope the woman and dog owner both sue him.

What an absolute idiot. Sidenote, I think this particular cop is a she, not a he. Not that it makes a difference, just mentioning because a lot of people were refering to the cop as "he."

On a different note, what is the picture with the article supposed to be portraying. It's a dog (Sugar the pit bull?) looking at . . . a weird light?

Not a surprise at all.
This happens because basically anyone can become a cop.

I wish someone was. Not the lady, or the dog of course.
