I could see Vick saying something like that, though. He doesn't understand why what he did was wrong, so how could he fail to see how it wouldn't be inspirational?

I can't believe that anyone would:

1 believe an article they read in the Onion- it's made up stories- read them sometime, they are hilarious
2 think that Vick would make a speech even remotely like that to his team. Vick isn't making any speeches in the locker room. He's a backup QB who has played about 10 plays in 1 game. He's not a leader on the team.
3 that people can read satire, know it's fake, and still be upset about it because it talks about Vick and pitbulls.

He's had a lot of press around here. Everything he's said is pretty humble. I really hope that he's trying to turn his life around and he's sincere with the press conferences he's been giving. I'm willing to give him a 2nd chance. Not because he plays on my favorite team, but because he's a human being who made a mistake, paid the price in a way that is far greater than any other animal abuser ever paid, and deserves a chance to prove he's changed. If we never gave people 2nd chances a lot of us would not be where we are now.

I knew it must have been fake from the beginning. There is no way that Vick could even talk that way in a public place let alone a locker room.

All anyone can do is hope that when Vick is on the field that he is sacked permanently.

Why is everybody upset about a fake article by the Onion? They do it as a joke, I personally found it funny. Vick did a messed up thing, horribly messed up, and the article is making fun of him in every aspect possible and I give it a thumbs up personally.

Uh... I don't find it funny that ANY newspaper is talking graphically about dog fighting and someone making light of it. Why the hell would you give that a thumbs up?!

But as I said in the opening of my post, I knew it was from the onion and that it was probably entirely fake. I feel like the onion posted the whole thing in poor taste. Why purposely put up an article with graphic gory dog fighting details when people like DanL are trying to give Vick the benefit of the doubt than he can change?

Yes I could have done without the graphic details but yes I find it amusing that they posted it. He may have the ability to change but he still did something beyond horrifying.

Its not out being tossed into everybody's driveways so leave it be, don't read their articles anymore if you find their humor that distasteful. The Onion pushes limits much like certain Television shows. You gotta learn to take things not so serious when written by something like the Onion.

He said it's not worth getting upset over, not that it's humorous. I have every right to find an article distasteful and comment on it. If you don't like my opinion you can ignore it but it's impossible for you to "correct" my opinion for one less appalled because the article isn't factual.

Anyways, I think Vick isn't really someone who should have his crimes trivialized through satire. Regardless, I'm done here.

I never said you weren't entitled to your opinion, I simply said its the Onion...its not true and its out there to push buttons, thats what some people do. Sorry it came off wrong, what I found humorous was the fact that someone put up an article poking fun of Vick and that people got that upset over it. My opinion. I never tried to correct your opinion so who knows where you are getting that from. All stars crimes are trivialized through satire...you must not enjoy comedians, because that is one of their biggest hits..poking fun at famous stars who commit crimes or act like morons.
