The breed that I learned the most about would be filas. When I first came here, the only thing I read about them was that they were the most vicious breed in existence. They will maul anything, even humans.

They are pretty rare in the US and dont hear much about them. Just on chaz.

I was already so involved in the world of dogs (showing, training, competing, etc) that I was already quite experienced and knowledgeable about breeds. My opinions were already formed. So when it came to the topic of training, breeds, health, I came to this forum already well informed.

However, I have a better opinion of some of the small toy breeds - or rather, that I now know people who are actually responsible owners and so the dogs are a reflection of that, instead if icky ankle biters. I've always been of the opinion bad owners, not bad dogs - but sometimes its nice to see proof of that! Yay for all the responsible small/toy dog owners here on Chaz!

I've learned a lot about breeds I don't run into often, like the fila, and the pap. Before I came to chaz I'd only read about filas in books, I don't even think I'd seen a decent picture lol.
I have a new respect for BCs. The only ones I've met were pretty neurotic - because of the owners or possibly bad breeding. I mean, these were dogs that you wouldn't want in your home unless you wanted everything broken or destroyed. Including your nerves! BUT in addition to those on chaz, and a recent ones I've met in person I'm much more open minded about them, I'd love to have the change to work with one training, etc. Brilliant dogs.

Chaz fostered my love for GSDs. I've always liked them, of course, but I have a much deeper understanding of them, and there history.

Actually I've learned a lot in general about different breeds history.
Also nutrition, grooming, training, and health things like vaccinations and such.

Yay you guys make me happy! lol I'm glad my crew can do a good service for the breed and the toy group in general.

My favorite breeds haven't really changed much except for border collies. Chaz played a part in that but I think I would have gotten there anyways just by the amount I worked with and loved in the shelter. I do feel like I know a lot more about and can appreciate further breeds that I will never own. Filas and APBTs for example.

I had never heard of a fila before Chaz.

Paps are always going to be my heart and soul though and really being on Chaz has also reconfirmed that too.

I think a lot of people go to the wrong breeder to get their toy breed puppy. BYBs do not breed for temperament. Pebbles is a very nervous dog and she does not like people (byb dog). My moms pet shop pug became aggressive very young. Truffles, who I got through a reputable breeder turned out much better temperament wise. People do not make him nervous and he doesnt have an aggressive bone in his body. Training and socialization is a must, but I think breeding has a lot to do with it.

Well I came her when I was 15 so luckily word had not gotten to me that pit bulls, Dobermans, Rotties, etc. were vicious killers, Chaz prevented brain washing from ever occurring. Now thanks to this place pit bulls are my favorite breed and I know a ton about them and that dog aggression is acceptable and does not mean the dog is an evil killer.

I like poodles now, before chaz I was under the impression that poodles did nothing but sit around and look pretty and were the dogs of stuck up, selfish people (thank you Disney). Now I know what they were really bred for and know they are all around good dogs, though I don't ever want a small breed the Standards are actually a breed I admire a lot.

I also learned that Chihuahuas don't all cower and shake all the time for no reason, that a well socialized, well bed chi is confident and fun.

I had never heard the word Fila before Chaz.

I've learned a lot more about dogs and breeds...but my opinions on them haven't changed, really. I still like the ones I've always liked, still would never own certain ones.

I've got living breathing proof of Chaz and Laurelin's persuasive powers even when someone doesn't visit the site for months. He's currently chasing my min pin around the living room. The only time I'd heard of a papillon prior to this forum was when Kirby won Westminster in 1999. Hearing the exploits and seeing the pictures of Laurelin's crew sent me googling. Heck, in 1999 there was no way I'd have considered a dog under 80lbs. The toys were anklebiting brats to me at that point. Now I've got a min pin, while he was NOT a good choice for me, who stole my heart and a papillon that is wedging his way deeper into my heart each day.
