I've met 5, 3 imports from Russia, one fr the UK and one USA.

All said the same...the breed is typically standoffish and "reserved" with strangers.

They were adorable and reminded me of a high energy chihuahua...very cute, but definatly not everyones cup of tea! And you can find long haired chis that have a thinner coat that look exactly like that.
My mums chi Rosie (out of 2 well pointed wowies) looks alot like the dogs in those pictures....she's a throwback!

grammy, why not wonder from the norm?

Foxy, did you notice big personality differences between the Russian and and USA ones?

not realy in truth there wasnt much difference, i noticed a slight difference in look between all 4 european bred dogs and the USA bred dog, the usa dog wanst quite as refined, but in terms of personality, the russian dogs were a little more accepting of being handled by strangers (all 3 were shown) but you could tell, even after yrs on the ring, they still didnt LIKE strangers touching them...but they accepted it as fact of life...the usa one was very short with strangers, and the uk bred dog was so,mewher in between...
however towards their people...you definatly see the wowie, an extreemly doting breed on ALL fronts.

Thanks Foxy! I think I'll stick with the papillons from the sounds of it. They're cute though, I gotta love anything with big, fringed ears.

your very welcome...
they are a very cute and awesome for the right person kind of breed...
but i think you have to be in love with chihuauas and small terriers before even considering one, and even then id spend time with some first lol.
