Question Is a height adjustable table neccessary?

Hi,

I am a newly qualified groomer looking to set up my own business but I dont have a lot of cash up front so am trying to save a bit of money on buying a grooming table... Do you think that I could attach a grooming arm to a normal sturdy table rather than a specialist grooming table?

I dont know much about grooming from the groomer standpoint but Ill give you my opinion from a customer standpoint. I have been going to groomers for over 15 years with my dogs. One of the first things I look at is their shop, it doesnt have to be the biggest or the fanciest but I want to make sure it is CLEAN and has GOOD materials. I honestly would not be happy to see that they didnt have a real grooming table. The dog spends most of their time on the table and I want to make sure that they are SAFE.

Yes you can put just a arm on a regular table suhc as a desk table type thing. Must be a good sturdy table. With some non slip matt on it so dogs wont slip.

But you will really want to save up for a adjustable table. so much easier on your body.

Yes, making your own is quite possible, as stated above. A good sturdy table, non skid top and an adjustable arm will work fine to start. make sure all your supllies are neat and clean looking though. While you can have the fanciest of everything and be a bad groomer, or the shbbiest and be the best....first impressions are important.
If it looks clean an orderly then you turn out a great looking dog, you can count on return visits and word of mouth business.

As you start to see profit, invest little by little into better equipment (official grooming table (large) with adjustable arm, etc.
Even small touches such as bows in the hair of the long haired girls, bandanas on the boys, etc. Small cost but a cute addition to top of a nice groom.

we use an old large sewing table with a rubber mat on it for traction. we are saving for an adjustable grooming table. it would really save your back if you would get one now, or atleast start saving up for one.
