By lure I mean holding treat in front of face and moving it to cause the dog to drop into position (dog mindlessly follows treat to the floor). The dog should know the cue by the time the video is taped even if you used a lure to train it. The dog can still be rewarded with the treat/toy after he has done the trick.

Here's where we are (in about 1 week). Not nearly as flashy as Pitt's, but I'm still proud of how quickly she is picking it up.

We haven't gotten rid of the hand "target" yet, but she is not being lured with food.

So your dog still gets the treat in the end? That's good to know. I thought they weren't suppose to. Nice Boo Bow!!!!!!

good job.. Dekka is having issues with this trick.. she knows so many things and I am having a hard time not cuing her for something else. I would just capture it but she doesn't do it that often.

Looking good, Boo!

It's so interesting how everyone appears to be training the trick differently. Luring, targetting, capturing.. I shaped with Pit because he doesn't really "get" other methods as easily.

This is great!

I've been telling Domino "good!" anytime she happens to do a bow/stretch (she does it pretty often on her own). I don't always have a treat on me when she does though so she looks at me like "Really? I did something good? Where's my cookie?"

I'm goin for the double-bow! I don't know if I can pull it off in time, though... Gonzo is very awkward about it. Fozzie already knows bow, but not without me pointing to the floor, so I'll need to work on him bowing without a "lure".

So we can't give treat at the end? Is that what luring means? I thought it meant that you couldn't guide the down.

Kassie's learning it quite nicely, but the only problem I think I'll have is due to her size, it's hard to tell that she's bowing, I'll need to find the best angle.

You CAN give the treat at the end you just can't use the treat in front of the dog's nose to move him into position.
