| Some dogs, (my Jose` included) have what's known as over active tear ducts. They just produce so much liquid and then dust and stuff sticks to it. It is a nuissance to keep having to wipe out the crusties. My vet said there is a surgery for this particular problem but that it isn't worth it or the possible side effects. So, we just live with it. Yeah...and it could be allergies. I wouldn't put vinegar into the eyes, personally, but you can ask your vet. Or use saline solution or just nothin'....just wipe 'em out. What I hate is that on Jose` they get all crusty, hard and stuck to his fur. And it happens within hours....hard to get off sometimes.

| Raja has environmental allergies, and she will get them pretty bad when she has a reaction. Not sure if that's a possibility for your girl... I just help out how I can with the allergies and wipe off her eyes with a damp cloth. Just water, though. Not sure about the vinegar.

| I've heard that giving fish oil suppliments helps prevent eye boogers. I haven't tried it myself, though. Dogs with short noses tend to have them more too because their sinuses don't drain very well or something. We had that problem with a boston terrier I worked with a few months ago. |

| How tight are Kyrie's eyes? If she has loose eyes, like some Newfs, this may be a life long thing. In my home it is seasonal, the summer brings pollen and dust that get captured in Hutch's eyes. We use a dab of Tear Gel if we notice any irritation. I have heard that apple cider vinegar helps, but personally I don't want to have vinegar anywhere near my eyes so I won't do it to my dogs. |

| This may work. We give both dogs fish oil 2x day and never have eye boogers, and these are dogs that run around in a big ash pit for fun. Then again, they might just be less sensitive to dust.

| Oops I forgot about this!! What kind of environmental allergies? How would I find out? Through vet testing? Quote:
![]() You can see on her left eye that little lip. It's on both eyes but you just can't tell from certain angles. What do you think? I think I'll try fish oil before anything else because.. I'm nervous about the vingar thing!

| Seasonal for our house is having Hutch stick his head into every bush in our backyard, or digging up the areas that they are allowed to dig in the backyard. He gets pollen from the bushes and dirt and dust from the digging and rolling. Saints have loose eyes and whatever lands on his face gets in his eyes, and then he gets crusty build up. Kyrie has beautiful eyes! They are tight for a Newf, but they don't look as tight as say my beagle or husky/GSD. But that is hard to tell from a picture! So depending on her lifestyle and how nosy she is with that big ol' mug of hers, it could be her bodies natural reaction to expelling objects that shouldn't be getting in her eyes. As long as her eyes aren't red and she doesn't get a yellow/greenish or excessive amount of build up I personally wouldn't be vetting for allergy testing or any other sort of testing. Have you been trying the fish oil with any luck? |

| Blaze gets them every day also. I have no answer on how to stop them. I just wish every one would pick them out of their dog. so many small dogs come in tot he shop with huge eye crusties formed in to their face so bad that there is scabs under them. its terrible. And you tell the owner, yet 6 weeks later same thing.

| My pug used to get these a lot and I find that using eye drops each day helps to reduce it significantly because it helps to cleanse the eye so that gunk does not build up in the eye
