You mean I write extremely long, arcane texts?

I'll take that as the compliment that I think it was meant as

Oh, believe me, it was I have worked with some excellent Lawyers and been friends with more . . . and then there are the . . . others.

And that wasn't arcane at all. It was clear, concise, compelling, built the case on factual information, made an intelligent, logical chain of reason and led to a totally logical conclusion. Anyone with average reasoning capabilities should be able to comprehend it.

Great posts Lil!! I have always found the US police/law enforcement system interesting in the way it contrasts with ours (though there are more similarities than I would like at times)

I remembered this last night, so I thought I'd post it as documentary evidence of an all too common public perception of police beahvior and "appropriate" treatment of suspects.

As far as I can tell, viewers of the show are invited to watch, and savor, the sight of people (suspected criminals) being hit with a taser, which is, essentially, a form of torture. Although there is a time and place for the use of tasers, putting them on display as something cool, or fun to watch, is disgusting, and terrifying. And I presume there will be lots of tasering, after all, we can't disappoint the audience.

Here's the commerical for it YouTube - Police Women of Broward County - New Series Starts 8/6*

It features the lovely line . . . "There's always a good time to use a taser."

Now, I have no idea what the content of this show is like, and for all I know, those policewomen are model cops who only use their tasers when their other option would be to use a gun. But I do know how it is being sold to the public, and the image that it is portraying of appropriate police behavior and the treatment of suspects. And I find it very, very disturbing.

I watched one episode of the show, and to put it likely, those women are CRAZY. between the running after and tackling, the tazers and everything else.. its pretty nuts. and ya IMO it gives all cops a bad name

the whole show is focused on these women balancing being harsh brutal cops, with something like talking to their kids over the phone

I agree it is very dangerous to overlap the dominatrix subculture with the criminal justice system. TLC = The Learning WHAT Channel!
