Default searching yields unrelated results

I was trying to search for the thread that tells you how to block the ads on here. I KNOW I've seen the thread before and I thought it was stickied but I can't find it. I tried just typing "ad block" and that didn't help, so I tried "firefox ad block" because I know there was a part in there about specifically how to do it on firefox.

The results I did get had nothing to do with what I was searching for. It seemed to be pretty random to me. Whenever someone posts a thread about a topic that's been discussed before, sometimes people say "We talked about that last week, why don't you do a search first?" Well... the search bar is not very useful! Unless you guys can tell me how to get an effective search out of it, I don't even see the point in trying.

Now, how do I block these ads on firefox?

For those that use Internet Explorer, it's pretty easy to eliminate the banner from the top of the page, since IE has restricted sites built-in. All you have to do is:

1) Open IE
2) Click tools, then internet options, then click on the security tab.
3) Here you will see restricted sites, click on it.
4) There should be a button that says "Sites", click this button.
5) Erase everything out of the box, and type *.fastclick.net and then click Add.
6) From here click Close and then OK.

FireFox users can install a great Addon which will block fastclick and tons of other ad providers (eliminates 99% of ads, literally!).

Since the IE stuff is still kinda funky, we are looking for something for you IE users to fix this annoyance!

Thought I'd add that in the future, the best way to search the forum is through Google. For those who don't know how, you put your search term into Google followed by site:chazhound.com

EX

german shepherd site:chazhound.com

Or if you want to keep "german shepherd" as a single term, you put

"german shepherd" site:chazhound.com
