Default Recent prolific photo hiking trips

So in two weeks, I've been through all four seasons already. Including winter. Which turned to back into late spring by mid-afternoon. And I thought Kansas was weather-schizo. (Taken 4/26)

Driving up to Central City a few days later:

I think rock cuts are fascinating, though I'm probably alone in that...

This used to be vertica but has fallen at some point after an uplift...each of the sections is a different time period in history. Just thinking how long it took each layer to be laid down gives me chills:

So you know how towns used to hang signs outside their store with pictures to explain what was inside in case people couldn't read? I wonder what they were trying to say here...

The other main road. The EZ-Street Casino is the oldest continually operated bar in the state of Colorado. The Dostel next to it is now a microbrew/casino and has a pretty darn good dry Stout.

The outskirts of town, where you can still see evidence of some of the original mining operations:

These are all from yesterday at Lair o' the Bear. I'm going to have to go back with someone else driving next time, the drive out there is just breathtaking. They do have spots to stop and take photos, but after seeing a number of near-misses coming out of the stops because people were taking corners too fast, I opted to just keep going.

This reminded me a bit of Scotland, though with bigger hills:

Are you sure thats sedimentary (or a metasediment?) It looks rather metamorphic at this scale, so it might not be deposited, but tortured into those bands.
