My friend called me last night. She said she doesnt know what to do, her dogs wouldnt stop fighting. I did not believe her. She gave me an elaborate story and I laughed.

I come into work today and she shows me her arms which are covered in bites and scratches from breaking them up. She tells me the hematomas in the 3 month old puppies ears were ripped open by the 8 month old boxer mix. She tells me the 3 months old puppy has a hole in his neck and the 8 month old is limping.

I FEEL TERRIBLE. I didnt believe her and said things like "Well I guess youll have to put one of them down, lol." When she was going through real pain.

We talked about it today and apparently the 8 month old got out last night and ran into the apartment complex parking lot and was not hit by, but startled by the security guys golf cart. He is now limping. The fighting started after that.

I told her to crate and rotate them, and keep the dog off his leg until she can get him to a vet. He is in pain and thats prob why he is lashing out. She said he doesnt seem hurt and i said dogs hide it better than youd think. She left work early to take him in.

But I still feel terrible.

I also do not care for that day. I will not come in contact with certain family members and friends on April Fool's day. I am literally not available to them and go out of my way to avoid them, based on past experiences.

Yeah I just felt so terrible because the whole time I didnt believe her.

She said today he is walking noticeably better. I dont think shes going to end up taking him to the vet because it wasnt run over, but I think he just like twisted or sprained it.

I have medicine that was given to me for Chance when he sprained his hip, but I dont think it would be a good idea to give her dog medicine that was perscribed for Chance.

It's supposed to be a fun day, with jokes that bears no harm. When someone tells me something important/serious on April 1st, I always ask if it was true or not then depend on the answer, I'd take it serious or joke right back.

Don't feel bad. It wasn't your faults that your friend's dogs got hurt.. and though you didn't take what she told you seriously, I think she understands & forgives you already (well, she's still talking to you, isn't she?), so you should forgive yourself, too.

A friend told me she was pregnant yesterday, i responded by bursting out into laughter and saying " you almost got me! HAHAHA ill help pay for daycare!"
..then she didnt laugh. and i realized she wasnt kidding. I felt like such a bitch but shes was the 4th girl that day to make a joke like that.

I personally would have taken it seriously.. but then I don't mind over much being the butt of a joke. At least looking at the alternative.

Wow. An 8 month-old and a 3 month-old fighting? That is scary.

If the puppy has a hole in his neck and the Boxer is limping, they BOTH need to get to a Vet, and she needs to make sure she's cleaning her own wounds very well. And a behaviorist wouldn't hurt, either.

Well, it could be worse. You could have been BORN on April Fool's Day like my cousin! I'm sure she's had to suffer through years of trick candles on her birthday cake.

I personally don't play tricks on people, because I never liked having tricks played on me. I can appreciate good gag, though.

Oh how awful! Just goes to show - if you have a major announcement to make, no matter how difficult it is to keep your mouth shut, it's best to make the announcement on April 2!


To the OP, I agree, she needs to take all the injured dogs in to the vet and make sure their wounds are cleaned. They can get nasty pretty fast. And DEFINATELY a behaviorist for the puppies!
