Heart Murmur--Grade 3

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. We are interested in adopting a cockapoo, 6 yrs old, that was recently diagnosed with a heart murmur, grade 3. The vet wrote something, most of which we cannot read but were able to pick out "heart murmur, grade 3, congenital, thoracic," Can anyone trasnslate for me and give me an idea of what we're looking at long term, in activity levels, vet bills, life expectancy, etc, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
