So I've been able to do a little work on Strider's portrait thanks to Aurelia's new, sanity saving habit of taking evening naps.
 Anyway, here's an update. Any suggestions? A lot of it is only blocked in still, and his head definitely needs a little sumthin sumthin. Sorry about the sloppy background blocking. I'm not sure what to do with the circly thingy. The penciled in scroll work is from the San Xavier mission in Tucson, but then there are big gaps between them that feel too....gappy. And I don't know what colors would look good. Suggestions? Halp?

I would take one of your darker colors from the dog so it will balance out. To any more color i would just have to lay one against it and another until i found what clicked.

I'll try that Smkie, it's hard because colors change in all the different lighting, ah well, lol. And thank you to Hyia! You can always trust a child's opinion

Here's my suggestion.... Make me one! It's looking AWESOME!
ETA: I kinda like the plain-ness of the painting. MHO would be that if you added more too it, it might get kinda distracting to look at. I'm not sure what colors you would want to use though. I keep wanting to say like dark blue and goldish yellow... but there's already a good bit of blue in the painting... so I think that would be too much. sorry, I'm no help.

Thanks paean! A lot of the next part will just be cleaning up and refining lines (especially on the hill), plus tweaking some colors. I like smkie's idea of using some of the darker browns on the circle, maybe for the scrollwork.
Maybe I could paint the "white space" inside the circle a lot lighter, like a transparent space, and have the stuff behind visible, just a lot lighter, or even looking antiqued. hmm...
